Default installed pot and switch ...

I got rid of the push/push pot I had in my guitar
and installed a regular volume pot and a 3 way toggleswitch.
when I tried it later on, the bridge pickup(SH-5)
had lost some output compared to the PAF Pro in the neck.

the PAF Pro has always had a little more power than the
    SH-5, but this is ridiculous

it also has an annoying squeal as well

could the pickup be damaged or is it just ground problems?

    a little urgent !

did u try adjusting the heights? of the pups... if the SH 5 works well .. i.e. bucks hum and sounds like a SH5 ... and the only problem is when U COMPARE it with the PAF PRO.. I think evrything is ok... u do seem to have a grounding issue though

I know the PAF Pro is supposed to have balls, but
the difference wasn't that big when I had the push/push pot

I got help from my uncle who's an electronics engineer and he
claimed that it wouldn't matter if we soldered the groundspot
on the volume pot or not.

from my own experience modding some of my own guitars, the pot should be grounded but the switch i have found doesnt have to be. im guessing you did the obvious making sure you regounded the pickups on the regular selector switch. also, if you had to route a new cavity for the switch you installed you might want to think about coating this with the same insulating black gunk thats prob already in there, although again i have found this doesnt really make a difference.

in terms of the output loss, i didnt experience anything like that.

all that being said, i am assuming the switch you installed was to split the coils. i used a three way on-on-on switch to do the same thing, with one position being both buckers, one being just the neck split and the last being both split. did you do something similar?

one last thing, i did experience some fairly annoying noise when playing through my small practice amp, but when plugged into my reg tube, its silent.

Ofcourse I forgot to bring the wiring diagram
but I do remember that the black wire went
to the switch and the green and bare was
soldered to the ground. However, the grounding-spot
is floating with a bare wire connected to the pot.
I suspect that this could be the problem!

The weird thing is that it was floating when
I had the push/push pot but no wire to the pot itself,
but then again, the knob didn't change the volume at all, but that's history now

So, you have any ideas that might lead to a solution ?

    Thanks.

so, I finally brought the wiring diagram

the black wire goes to the switch, the green and the bare to the ground
and the red and white aren't used at all. not even taped up.

then there's a wire from switch to pot,
    from switch(back) to ground spot,
    from pot-casing to ground spot,
from pot loop to ground spot,
    from ground spot to input,
    from pot loop to input,
    from input to spring claw

    am I missing something ?
