I also desire to pull off a big bank/jewlery heist. I sometimes think about cashing in and going on a permanent vacation. I desire to steal a Ferrari and drive it like I stole it.
But I don't. It's called "self-control."
To compare a criticism of how one conducts himself in public to being born black or to slavery is just ignorant. It's a slap in the face to all blacks.

Actually, that's not the question at all.
The question is: should I be prevented from saying what I like because you don't like what I say?
Honestly, it's an endless source of disgust to me that young people today do not even know what the Bill of Rights is, let alone its importance.

I haven't read the whole thread, don't have the time or energy to do so. However, I don't think banning topics is the answer. The problem is, and always has been, a very select few members who are either so opinionated that they can't let anything go, or who just love to start trouble and arguments...you know who you are.
We should just ban a few bad apples, and there would be no issues. 2 or 3 idiots ruin things for everyone else around here.

On the contrary...it does not make me uncomfortable at all.
In fact, I ended up hanging out at a gay bar in Philadelphia a few weeks ago, just because it was cold and there was nowhere else to go. Big deal.
But I DO reserve the right to say whatever I like whenever I like. That is all I am saying. I will drink in a gay bar with no problem, and I still have the right to say that you're a jackass if you're kissing another dude.
It's called "freedom."

The question is whether or not you can be tolerant of other perspectives and lifestyles in a respectful way, provided that those perspectives and lifestyles are not harmful to one's self or others. Freedom of speech is a right; tolerance and respect are not. My feeling is that the thoughtful individual will uphold the latter when exercising the former.
And I believe your identity is defined by your conduct.
I don't care what you do in your home. But that would make the whole discussion moot. People only know that KISS is gay because they do gay things in public, like wear make-up and make out with Gene Simmons.
And I get to point and say, "Stop making out with Gene Simmons, you jackass."
Ha - this is old. Later, censors.
Actually i would like to seee all bashing ban,but that would be to much to ask.
We all hang here for one reason(i think) the love of music............Right!

No, it's called "not being a jackass".
You obviously have controversial opinions that aren't highly regarded by many people. You are obviously aware of this. Fact is, I have opinions about certain subjects that would make people uncomfortable as well. I'm sure most of us do.
The difference between you and I is that I know when to shut my mouth and be polite.
If you don't care about being a polite, civilized person, then you're an *******.

Ahh, calling the other side of the debate Nazis, the hallmark of good retoric. :rolls eyes:
If free speech is important, isn't an institution's freedom to censor what they present to the world equally as important? Why should that freedom be taken away?
Also, can't the, "If you don't like the thread, then don't look at it" argument be applied to the whole board? If you don't like the rules, go somewhere else.
