Default iTunes is too easy...

I'm a big advocate of physical media, my vinyl and CD collections are both too large and growing exponentially, but man, just logging on and going, ooh, new Converge album, why not! It really is too easy to spend £50. Just pop in your password once, job done. Click click click.

Technology still surprises me sometimes.

I think it's great to get those one or two obscure songs. I still don't buy full albums off it unless they are not available in the states.

I am all about Amazon MP3.

They blow stuff out for $2.99, $3.99, $5.00, all the time.

Today, John Mayer's Continuum is $3.99, Jay-Z's Blueprint III is $5.00, Relient K's MMHMM is $5.00.

I bought Weezer's new album Raditude for $3.99 this week, and it's brand new; came out Tuesday.

Amazon rules, spread the word.

I'd much rather have the physical cd, but iTunes is handy for the lesser known stuff that you'd have to special order in a store anyway. Much better to spend $10 than $25...

There are a few bands that I will continue to purchase physical media from. Most of that has to do with my somewhat OCD organization of my music collection. If I have a particular band's entire collection on physical CD, I'll buy the physical media if/when they release new material.

For a lot of other bands, however, I have given up on physical media. I used to download albums and burn them to an audio CD for archiving and car use, but that collection of discs is already becoming larger than I care to manage.

As for the Amazon vs iTunes... I prefer the web-based layout of the Amazon store. I actually browse through cdnow rather than the Amazon mp3 store. Sometimes I'll shop between iTunes and Amazon, though. I agree that it is too easy to burn through money. It is quite possibly the easiest way I have ever found to spend my money.

I use it to get albums I can't find easily.
