Yes those are my favorite. I was using the purple 1.14 but then recently reassessed my pick choice and bought a bunch. Found that the blues were better. Tortex just have such a smooth sound to me and even when they get scratched up they dont SOUND scratched up when you hit the strings.
I play fingerstyle as well so along with long nails, I use the Fred Kelly bumblebee medium teardrop thumbpicks. Best thumbpicks around IMO, well worth the price for me.

Fingerpicking!
Maybe throw in a dunlop thumbpicker. You know I got a friend who plays bass w/ thumbpicks. I wouldn't do it, but he has his own little style.

I would buy complete sets of the Dunlop Tortex, Gators, Delrin 500s and Ultex in each of the gauges and see what you like.
I used to use different pick for acoustic than electric, but over the years I've settled on the 1.14 mm Gator as my all-around pick. I play with the others around the house, but gig with the Gators. I like the tone and the non-slip grip. I also like the Clayton ultrem picks--I think it's a 1.20 mm. Experiment! Bill |

Right now I really like the Dunlop Ultex Jazz III picks, as well as the Ultex .73 standard and sharp. I seem to get more cut to the tone with the .73 picks and more mellow attack with the Jazz III design. I am totally sold on the Ultex material. Good stuff!!!

Here is a pick I made out of a 1906 Barber 1/2 silver dollar. Looks much nicer in real life.
Billy Gibbons and Brian May play with silver picks. ![]() ![]() I like it for select songs.

I can actually keep Dunlop Gel Picks in my hand. It seems everything else works it' way onto the floor.
I'd like to try some Brain Picks, though. |

Used to be Tortex
Then Ultex was da bomb Now I'm hooked on V-picks. I like my tone a lot better and picking speed and accuracy are much improved. Kind of surprising because I never liked reallly heavy picks before but now love a 2.5mm one. |

Back in the olden days I only used thin picks. Several years ago I started using mediums. I still use mediums a lot, but I'm gravitating more to heavier picks. Definately a thicker tone and more accurate picking.

Still use my V-picks when I am not playing the Ultex. In many ways they are quite similar. I think Vinnie's V-picks are a little higher quality though...

I usually use run of the mill normal picks in medium. But occasionally I treat myself to a Jazz 3 or 1, sometimes 2.
I just like the different feeling they have over regulars ones.

I do like the Snarling Dogs, but the Dunlop's 73's or 88's are still nice.

black ice mediums. they're sized perfectly between jazz and standard sizes and are a material similar to tortex.

I used the orange Dunlop, Fender, Tortex, delrin, blah, blah, blah for years and still like them but a month, or so, ago I bought some V-Pick Ultra Lite Large picks and they've taken over.

Jazz III Xls or Dunlop Big & Stubbys. Prefer the feel of the Stubby, but the sound of the Jazz...

I currently use Ultex and Tortex, 1.14mm but I have not heard of V-picks, gonna have to try those out because I can't play the thinner picks - I need to feel the guitar strings shake and I sometimes miss strings with the thinner ones.
