Default Final assembly of dragon showpiece

Finally got them all done.
Went in this morning at 5 to get the last few bits done.

For the legs:

1 Arrange a couple of carrots to form a V shape

2. After some shaping and carving a foot from potato cover with gelatin and cucumber slices. The mandolin was shredding them so I had to cut them by hand for this.

After final assembly,(legs, carrot for back fin and purple cabbage for mane) this is what it looks like,(I'm gonna drop by tomorrow and get a few shots of the whole ball set up) :

You got in trouble for playing with your food when you were a kid didn't you?

Seriously man, that's really cool!

(I don't get it)

Thanks folks.

The Master Warrant officer is very pleased with the work and made a comment today about needing to get large mirrors so there may be a few more of these coming in the next few months.

The next few ideas for upcoming functions are: the memorial arch done in either cake or carved from fruit in gelatine to look like a snowglobe:

Or a 3d of the school crest:

Thanks again folks.

I kinda feel guilty accepting the praise, this really is the kind of thing that chef's are trained to do (but since I'm so shallow I'm gonna just go with it )

Tomorrow evening I'm gonna post some pictures of the set-up at the ball so you'll see them on display as well as all the ice sculptures and designed platters that we do for theses sorts of things.

I said consumate V's!

JJ: that is beautiful! The fact that it's entirely edible is even better. You're quite an artist.

Yuppers.
Although I have to admit that it was only after I finished it that it dawned on me that I should have added some kind of flavouring and aromatics when cooking it.
