Default Dead Distortion- cost to fix?

It looks like I have a dead pickup on my hands and I was wondering what would be some possible causes and potential fixes?

What would I do to fix it and how much is it going to cost me? Or is it going to be better to just sell it for what I can get and cut my losses? It has cost me about $40 so far.
