How to Pick a Pickup Made Easier

One of Seymour Duncans biggest strengths is the sheer number of pickup models we offer. And its one of our weaknesses too, says Evan Skopp, Seymour Duncans VP of Marketing. Too often, all the choices create option anxiety in an entry-level customer. The Righteous Tone brochure shows only our proven top selling models. These are the ones were advertising in the guitar magazines. These are the ones the artists are using. These are the ones being touted on Internet bulletin boards and chat rooms. These are the ones customers will be asking for.
The "How to Pick a Pickup" instructions include three easy steps for choosing the best pickup: (1) what type of pickup is being replaced, (2) which type of magnet best matches the guitar's wood and desired tone, and (3) what output level the musician seeks.
Skopp adds, "Pickups have an aura of mystery about them. We notice that some stores have tremendously healthy pickup sales, largely due to one salesperson who understands the basic principles of matching pickups with a customer's needs. You know the type, the "pickup guru." One of the purposes of the new POP display is to explain, in three basic steps, those principles. Now every salesperson can become a pickup guru and achieve robust pickup sales for their store."
"We wanted to help dealers increase the visibility of our pickups in their store, and in turn increase their sell-through," says Billy Gill, Sales Manager. "The new POP display case boosts awareness of pickups. It's also educational. It helpsdealers sell pickups and end users to decide what pickups are right for their guitars".
