Artist Update
Congrats to our good buddy Lyle Workman (Little ’59 for Tele®) who just got the call to play with Sting at Live Aid II on July 2 in a stripped down, four piece band: just Sting, two guitars—Lyle and Dominic Miller—and Josh Freese on drums. God, Guns & Money (Long Overdue Recordings) is the latest release from Funky Meters’ guitarist Brian Stoltz (JB Model and Pearly Gates Humbucker). Kirby Johnson (Live Wire Metal Humbuckers) and the rest of Himsa are now in the studio recording their upcoming new album Hail Horror with producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Extol). The album will see a September release date on Prosthetic. But before that, they will be leading the Dirty Black Summer Tour in June and July. Dates can be found at www.himsa.org. Mastodon with Bill Kelliher (Duncan Distortion Humbucker) are set to release a “Festival Edition” of their latest album Leviathan overseas on June 27th through Relapse. Former Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery’s (Custom Custom Humbucker) new band Dark New Day will have a new album out June 14th through Warner. GIGANTOUR, the brainchild of Megadeth frontman/guitarist Dave Mustaine (JB Model), is set to launch in late July. GIGANTOUR is a six-week festival trek
co-headlined by Megadeth and Dream Theater, who’ll be accompanied by other mainstage acts Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore. The Sounds of the Underground tour will be hitting the US and Canada this summer, featuring Lamb of God with Mark Morton (Invader and ’59 Model Humbucker) and Will Adler (Invader and Live Wire Metal Humbucker), Opeth with Martin Mendez, Peter Lindgren and Mikael Akerfeldt (Full Shred Humbucker) and Michael Derks (Distortion Trembucker) with Gwar.
