D-TAR Product Spotlight - Wave-Length

As an easy-to-install alternative to other acoustic guitar pickups, our sister company D-TAR is proud to announce the release of Wave-Length™, the new under-saddle pickup system that combines a thin, piezo transducer with an 18-volt, low-noise, high input impedance preamp. Wave-Length's unitary full-length pickup accommodates virtually all 6-string spacings and is compatible with guitars using either 1/8" or 3/32" saddles, often with no modification to the saddle slot.

"The key here is ease of installation," says Rick Turner, D-TAR principal and co-founder.

Like D-TAR's Timber-Line™ pickup, Wave-Length's built-in preamp runs on 18 volts for twice the headroom and dynamic range of a typical 9-volt system. This means the player can strum extra hard without experiencing dreaded piezo "quack." To derive the 18 volts, Wave-Length merely requires two standard "AA" batteries. The secret is a proprietary voltage power booster. The preamp has an input for a second source, like a magnetic pickup or a soundboard transducer. Two adjustable trim pots, one low-frequency shelving and one high-frequency shelving, allow the installer to fine tune and "set and forget" the bass and treble frequencies to optimize the Wave-Length for any instrument's size and shape. The result is transparent amplification of the natural timbre of an acoustic guitar with minimal coloration. Wave-Length includes 1/4" jack and detailed installation instructions.
