Custom Guitar Spotlight - Zion Classic Maple Duncaster

Zion Guitar Technology has been satisfying the needs of guitar players worldwide for 24 years and Seymour Duncan pickups have been a mainstay of their product line the entire time. Ken Hoover founded Zion in 1980 in a small shop in Greensboro, North Carolina. The current owner, Dale Brown, re-located the company to a larger manufacturing facility in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2001, which has allowed them to increase output and expand their dealer network in the US and abroad.

Zion's impressive artist roster includes Phil Keaggy, for whom Zion built the limited edition "Phil Keaggy Signature Model Primera," in 1997 and1998. Phil has always liked the JB humbuckers.

"I believe it's their harmonic richness that, Phil says, makes them very musical," says Hoover. "Whatever it is, Duncan pickups continue to be our best seller."

From it's earliest days, Zion has built a reputation satisfying the needs of discriminating players from all musical genres -- from Country to Rock to Jazz. Zion's luthiers have the ability to tailor instruments to meet virtually any player's requirements. Their years of experience with tonewood selection, pickup and electronic options, and final set-up allows them to build guitars from the ground up to an individual player's specifications. Zion craftsmen are meticulous in their approach to their craft and spare no time or expense in making each guitar to the highest possible standard.

The pictured guitar, the Classic Maple Duncaster, features a stunning 5/8", AAAAA, figured and book-matched top with matching headstock cap. The 22 fret neck has a 12" radius and 25 1/2" scale. Like all Zion guitars, the Duncaster also features locking tuners, mother of pearl truss rod cover, Neutrik jack, and other appointments. It also features a non-trem by the German manufacturer ABM and includes a form cut hardshell case. The specific Seymour Duncan pickup models are up to the customer.

If you'd like to own a Duncaster, it's going to set you back $2,945; or, $3,545 for the AAAAA top version, like the one in the picture. Check out the entire Zion line of guitars at www.zionguitars.com.
