In Other News - Nuno Bettencourt’s Population 1 is now known as Drama Gods and in more Nuno News, he’ll be playing Lollapalooza with Perry Ferrell on vocals and No Doubts’ Tony Canal on bass. Bassist extraordinaire, Randy Coven, who has recorded and toured with Steve Vai, Leslie West and Yngwie Malmsteen, has recently completed his bass tracks for neo-classical, keyboard wizard, Vitalij Kuprij’s forthcoming solo album, entitled Revenge. Randy also has a new solo CD in the works for 2006.
Multi-instrumentalist and singer James Guffee (Replacement System for Music Man® bass) creates guitar driven rock music with undeniable hooks and insightful lyrics in his debut solo album So Much for Secrets. For more on James’ music, recent news and live appearances, go to www.jamesguffee.com.
Chicago punk rockers,The Lawrence Arms, recently finished recording their new album for Fat Wreck Chords. Oh! Calcutta! is currently slated for a March 2006 release date. Speaking of punk rock, Rise Against, NOFX and Thursday have already been confirmed for the 2006 Vans Warped Tour. We expect many more Seymour Duncan/Basslines artists to be joining the bill in the next few months.
In addition to coming out with his own Seymour Duncan Signature Model pickup, Dave Mustaine is about to begin pre-production on the new Megadeth record. He is also working hard to finish up the Gigantour 2005 DVD and put together the line up for the 2006 Gigantour. In other metal news, Zao will be hitting the road with Swedish metalheads, In Flames, at the end of January. Lamb of God’s Killadelphia CD/DVD combo hit stores in December and Mastodon’s first DVD effort, The Workhorse Chronicles, will be released in February. Bassist “E” Pruitt (Active 6-string Soapbars) currently touring with the Josh Williamson Band has put the finishing touches on his Solo CD entitled Chill. The CD will be available in the Spring. “E” will also be one of the Featured Performers and Instructors for the Northwest Guitars’ 2006 Bass Camp.
