Actually, the Pickup Booster is a very quiet device. However, like any other front end device, it requires a quiet power supply in order to have good noise performance. When using the Booster with a wall mount power supply, it is necessary to use a DC Regulated supply. The owner's manual emphasizes this fact and gives two manufacturers and their part numbers. One is Radio Shack and he other is Roland. Roland has an excellent DC Regulated power supply that has been designed for just this application and is available from most music stores.
Another noise problem that can occur is the Booster picking up and amplifying radio frequencies. If this happens, it is likely caused by guitar cables with inferior shielding. Try switching to a better-shielded cable and the problem should go away. If switching to a quality cable doesn't make the noise go away, give our tech support line a call or e-mail
