Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the dye job. I'm no expert though, there was more elbow grease than skill here. Give it a shot it's fun*!

I'd hate for you to get this far, and just have a wall hanger and not be able to play it.
Thanks! Yes...I'm kinda stuck on this neck thing right now. The total cost of this is well under $200 so far, I'm afraid a luthier would easily double that. I have no problem learning and expiramenting, so I guess I'll keep at it.

The project went on hold for a few months while my personal life was chaotic, but I've been back at it recently. I pulled the frets, leveled the fretboard with a flat beam, then with a radius block. Installed new frets using a better press, and just finished leveling and crowning.

The finish still needs several more coats, and then i can install electronics. I'm about to string it up for a test run, keeping my fingers crossed that my work was all worth it. I'll post pictures soon.

Oh man, I completely forgot to post the results here! A majority of the work is finished. It's strung up and playable, but I have to do a few more coats of finish and fine tuning of the hardware.

I impressed myself with the fretwork. The action was so low that palm mutes would actually cause the string to lie across the entire fretboard (chords were just fine, no buzzing at all). I had to raise it a bit so I could play more aggressively.

Pickups are from an LTD EC-256. The wood is pretty light and did not play well with the ceramic magnets, so I swapped for an A5 in the bridge and A8(!) in the neck. It actually works well!

I don't know when I'll be able to finish the cosmetics, I'm living in a temporary house at the moment (divorce sucks). But maybe I'll post some current pics this weekend.
