    Default NSD

I suppose that this is the right place to post this. Today my Eminence Texas Heat arrived to join the Eminence Swamp Thang in my 2x12 cab. It replaced the Celestion 12M-70 that remained from when the cab was a Carvin XV212 combo amp. It still needs to be broken in but I noticed an immediate improvement. No more nasally honk that I could never eq out. It also turns the cab into a 300 watter.
No pics because most speakers essentially look the same anyway.

Is that cabinet a closed back?
Shop at the stores you’d like to see around in five or ten years.

I really like Eminence’s American voiced 12s. Congrats.

It is now. I removed the amp and sealed up the back with 1/4" plywood. It is ported in the front though, where the amps controls used to be.

I've always wanted to try the Texas Heat. I hear they go along great with Kranks.

I wonder how similar it is to the Celestion A-type. They seem kinda similar on paper.

I've been able to spend some time breaking it over the last 24 hours. While I know that it'll still be some time before it is, it's still a huge improvement over the old 12M-70. While I don't hate them like some, they do have a honk to them that colors everything put through them.
The Texas Heat/Swamp Thang combo seems to be a lot more neutral sounding. I've been readjusting the eq settings on the amp, treble has come down and mids have gone up. I've also finally been able to hear a dramatic difference between the amp models in my Spidervalve.
I also think that this 2x12 will now keep up with a lot of 4x12's volumewise.

Oh yeah, that 2x12 will deliver everything you need and then some. I haven’t played a 4x12 in many years and I’ve never had anything to complain about with any of my 2x12s.
