    Default which tone do you like better?

    I threw this together really quick.
    It's not by any means a finished thing...
    Yes I know the drums don't even match up, its just a track to hear the guitar in a mix (ain't nobody got time for that) and I'm sure it will jack your ears up, but it is what it is.

    All that given; which tone do you like the best?

    Guitar is my Old Epi Goth Explorer with brand new Blackouts I installed today!

    A.
    B.
    C.

    If you want to take a guess as to what type of distortion/OD is being used, feel free! Cuz that's always fun!

    A by far is my fav as a stand alone tone or the base tone for a song.

    but B has some characteristics and potential for a good layering track.

    not really into C at all by itself -too narrow band for my tastes. -for whatever that's worth

    Yeah..I'd definitely go with A too.. B isnt bad ..C would be better for soloing..

    It's a hard edged distortion... HM-2? It also sounds kinda like the DOD Boneshaker video I was checking out a while ago.

    Just for S&G try the East River with the gain up into the Marshall with a fairly clean sound.

    A = clearest , very nice
    B = too harsh
    C = muffled/distant

    P.s. - I’ve been geeking out on analog tape simulators for warming up digital guitars. Also makes them pretty dang huge. Let me know if you want my list of (free) faves.

    Dank, I use Reaper software, is it like an fx choice? I'm not so good with it yet, I usually just use a little eq, and then a delay on the solo parts.

    1st, but there's a little too much hi-mid (~3K - 6K) hash; making it sound like an overloaded input (too hot of a signal)... "hot fizz".

    You download the plugins (.dll files), then put them in the plugins folder of reaper program folder. Next time you open reaper they’re on your effects list.

    Thanks for the input, I'll mess around with the eq a bit.

    You could try to balance it out with more low end thump (~125-160Hz)

    Or just tone it down a little (1-2db's off 3K-6Kish)

    ...actually, I'd add a few db's more in 125-160Hz regardless. Get that thumping chunk for broootz.

    If it gets too flubby, take 250Hz down some.
