He told me he wanted to buy a semi hollow for his first guitar. Although that’s his prerogative I told him I didn’t think that was a good idea for a first guitar.
He then finds a video from this guy comparing a semi vs a solid body playing Metallica riffs. Of course both guitars in the vid sounded eerily similar.
I had to explain to my friend how production/post production eq, compression etc all worked in the context of what we see and hear on YouTube.
I’m not saying that this guy is trying to deceive anyone, but of course to put out vids that are on par with his quality there’s a ton of studio work that goes into it.
Plus, he's got "tone" fingers -listen to his bend/releases -a lot of that tone is his effortless playing.

I actually was just in the car (I sold a guitar to a guy on CL and we just met up) listening to the video of the Eastman (which is an amazing guitar btw) and another that was on after it.
Darryl is a great player. And he’s a really likable online personality.

He gets wonderful overtones that ring out. It’s just something in his playing. You can’t teach that.

I'd view that video as a paid commercial rather than an honest review.
When the only negative is an easily replaced set of strap buttons you have to question the objectivity.

Yeah, did you see my comments earlier -I'd agree it's slightly a puff piece -it's harder to be completely objective when free guitars are coming your way.

I haven’t played one but I also looked them up online. If they were more in the 1K range I might be a buyer at some point. But for the same price as a Gibson, I’ll get a Gibson.

This just goes to show that yes, you CAN make a guitar that good for $1500. If that were most Les Paul Standards, Gibson would be at war with the EPA for cutting down forests to meet the demand. As it is, not so much.

If I get an Eastman I'm getting a Backlund

My next guitar will be an Eastman...a 335-alike. Come at me, Gibson.

There are only 2 treatments for GAS:

    1) (this one only treats the symptoms and is temporary), buy all the guitars you can get your hands on. You will feel so much more at peace, and you'll have lots of great gear to play with.
    2) (this one is the only "cure" for GAS and it IS permanent). A .45 is the best, most secure way to go but there are others that work as well.

Well, I was seriously thinking about doing $20 every week or two on layaway for the Bich. I would end up modding the bejeezus out of it. And wouldn't that be fun!!!

But...something came across my path that I had to take a shot on. we'll see. Deal is still in the works.

So far - as usual, you guys have been NO help!

But why would we want to help you NOT buy guitars. That would just be silly.

you have reached the point of diminishing returns in guitar acquisitions!!!You already have a collection of guitars that will perform better than anything you could add!!!if there is some small gap in what your current collection will do it could be easily filled by modifying slightly something you already have!!!What you really need at this point in time is a Kemper!!!!

Too many guitars? Time to take up bass, Ace. Then you can claim to be the Ace of Bass.

I once found a guitar amp in the garbage, a Peavey Studio 110. It caught fire at the first gig I played it at.. But it was at the end of it, thank god.

What year/ model is the Kramer??
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.
