Default Powerstage 700 Speaker Impedance Question

The Powerstage 700 is a 700 watt amp into 4 ohms. Since it is stereo, that would make it 350 watts per side. Will it allow two 4 ohm cabinets at the same time or does it need two 8 ohm cabinets which equals a total impedance of 4 ohms?

I don’t know much about solid state amps but I’m pretty sure that you’d be best off running two 8 ohm cabinets for a total 4 ohm load? That’s what you’d do typically with a valve amplifier anyway & from what I’ve been told solid state stuff is a bit more forgiving in the impedance department. However it’s always best to just run the proper impedance speaker for whatever load the amp is looking for....

i believe its 700w (peak) per side at 4 ohms, 350w @ 8 ohms. you can use one 4 ohm cab per side safely or two 8 ohm cabs per side

Yes, it is a stereo amp, so 2 discrete amps, you can run 4 ohms on each side (as Jeremy already said).

So, that's conceivably two full stacks per channel, providing that the 4x12 cabs are 16 ohm? Wow.
