How high should a pickup be adjusted to the strings?

Last Updated on October 17th, 2019

Before adjusting your pickups, press the high and low strings at the last fret and use the recommended measurements below.

  • Bridge Pickup: 1/16″ on the treble side and 1/16″ or 1/8″ on the bass side.
  • Middle Pickup: 1/16″ on the treble side and 1/8″ on the bass side
  • Neck Pickup: 1/8″ on the treble side and 1/8″ or 3/32″ on the bass side.

Stratocaster pickups that are adjusted too high on the bass side can often be the cause of unwanted overtones and lowering the pickup can help reduce the problem.

Please check your items carefully and confirm they are correct for color, position, etc. We are not able to accommodate order changes or cancellations once you have completed the check out process.
