When Jody Porter of Fountains of Wayne wanted a Tele that could get humbucker and single-coil sounds he went with Old School Guitar Repair Restoration and Lutherie, a company that literally works from an old school.

Here’s the body wood being outlined:

Body glued together:

Ready for some color:

Finished in seafoam green:

Pickups routed for the Whole Lotta Humbucker Set:

Completed guitar with Bigsby and Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups:

What would your custom guitar entail?

The grain on that body is so beautiful, seems almost a shame to finish it in a solid color.

What wood is the body made from? Looks like pine or larch, but I never heard that woods used for a guitar.

It’s douglas fir which is a pine and what was used for the BroadCaster. It’s super light and resonate, the guitar rocks.
