This is my third Alternative 8 bridge pickup. Hard rock/ metal stuff comes through great and it lends a trebly and precise clean by itself or mixed with the neck pickup. This one went into my Gibson Explorer, very happy with it.

The pickup sounds great. I wired it up with a three way mini toggle so it goes between series/split/parallel. The only strange thing was the wiring diagram I referenced from the Website was not correct. The series and parallel were on opposite sides of switch. Not a big deal for a one pickup guitar.

So nice. It's hot, but cleans up well enough. It breaks up real nice too! I love it with my jazz in the neck.

Great sounding pickup need I say more?

Back in 2014 I bought my first Alt8 and I have been building guitars for my slide playing ever since. I am 15 guitars into this addiction and now I have to replace all my bridge pickups with Alt8s I always go back to the Maple SG and the Alt8. the tone and clarity is un matched. For slide, which is sharp and piercing to start with, I love the enhanced mid range that warms my playing up. It is paired with a 59/custom at the neck and sounds wonderful!

I've always used the standard hot rodded set in most of my Ibanez S guitars, but in one I dropped this pick up. A noticeable difference in cutting thru the mix and no flabbiness knees in the low end. Excellent!

This is by far my favorite high output bridge pickup that Duncan makes. I have two, one in my SG which is my "Sabbath" guitar (tuned down to C#/Db with 10-42 strings) and it delivers beautifully under high gain at lower tunings (I use this guitar with everything from ODs to Treble Boosters and heavy fuzz and it always holds up). My other guitar is a custom build (Mahogany neck-thru, ebony board with 24-5/8" scale length, vintage late 70s/early80s BC Rich vibe) tuned to Eb and it I ordered it with a Distortion/Jazz set but I could never quite get what I was after from those pickups. The Alt8 was the answer, all the things I like about the SH-6 (tight, percussive low end and compression for leads) without the issues that I didn't like (ceramic harshness in the highs and ice pick attack on the high E). The highs are really clear and articulate but also smooth and the mids have better definition as well with tight, punchy low end for palm mute chugging. Still looking for a good neck pickup to match to it (The Jazz is too polite and I tried a SH-6 neck model but was too over the top), looking at a Screamin' Demon (custom build) and Slash 2.0 (SG) so the neck has more punch to match the Alt8. If your looking for high output with chainsaw mids, tight lows and high end clarity with no ceramic harshness give this one a shot.

The Alternative 8 sounds balanced to me, it cleans up nicely, but it can push out some chunky riffs, too. It's a versatile pickup for sure.

This is exactly what I was looking for to go into my Les Paul standard quilt top. It’s aggressive and responsive without generating too much feedback or getting muddy like some high output humbuckers do. The fit & finish are perfect. Seymour Duncan really delivered on the Alternative 8.

After trying a handful of different pickups for my sg, I spoke with a guy in tech support about the alt 8. This did not disappoint. I’m using my sg as a 2nd/backup to my Les Paul with a JB and this keeps right up.

Magic, sustain and clarity, with a bite. This is my new favorite pickup. Some pickup changes are slight some are bold. And all I can say about this one is "Magic", it has inspired me, and that is what I look for in a pickup.

Put this in my esp, mahogany body, set maple neck. Hated the emg’s that were in there, so compressed and sterile. This pickup is so alive, throaty, balanced, tight bottom end, and very vocal through the mids. I love it. I use it for cleans, rock, hard rock, metal, etc. Fantastic pickup, definitely recommend.

I bought my Alternative 8 many years ago. The description under Genre was simply 'Rock'. That sold it for me. I initially put my pickup in an Ibanez and it changed it completely. I was hooked. The Alternative 8 is a Monster! I eventually sold the Ibanez but kept the Alt 8 and moved it to a project that frankly didn't get used a great deal. In late 2019 I purchased a PRS Tremonti SE STD. Took a while to get a feel for the guitar. Playing wise I loved it but something was missing. Skip to late 2020 and I had a brain wave. I removed my Alternative 8 from the redundant project and loaded it into the PRS. HOLY WOW! I regret selling the Ibanez due to the feel and the sound I got out of it but I have now fallen head over heels with the PRS with the Seymour loaded into it. Like the Ibanez came to life the PRS has also taken on a new life. It is a beast of a pickup and a definite must for any future guitar projects.

Took a chance, it paid off. Love it

Well balanced, not distorted (in use with Alder body/Maple neck), achieving tones that I desired on standalone pickup use. 1 in strat, typical pickguard mount. 1 in strat ring mount /89 HM Strat/. 1 in PRSS2 pickguard mount. They sound awesome in all 3 configurations for the music they are assigned to. To my ears, they are very rich and balanced Sounding when clean.

I first heard about the SH-15 Alternative 8 many years ago and decided to try one in an Epi Ltd. Edition SG I had bought. Once it was wired in and height adjusted all I can say is wow, it brought that Epi to life. I liked it so much I bought a second one for the sister Epi SG. It is high output but it does clean up surprisingly well with a turn of the guitar's volume control. The SH-15 quickly became my favorite humbucker for rock but is well suited for most genre maybe except ultra clean but I have a strat for that.
