Description

Take your Stratocaster on a ride through decades of seminal genre defining tones from rock, surf, country and blues with the Antiquity II Surfer vintage Stratocaster pickups. The Antiquity II Surf Neck provides that smooth and chimey bounciness that only a Stratocaster can produce. Our specially calibrated alnico 5 rod magnets and custom scatter wound coil give the treble attack a subtle sweetness without losing any of the harmonic sparkle.

The middle pickup in the set is RW/RP for the perfect hum-free cluck in the 2 and 4 positions. The Antiquity II Surf for Strat Custom Bridge pickup is wound to have extra midrange and output for a more versatility. We wind these 50% hotter for more mids, and then slightly soften the treble attack by degaussing the alnico 5 rod magnets. It cuts through the mix much more easily than a traditional Strat bridge pickup, while still retaining that classic Stratocaster tonal character. Solos will jump out more musically, and chords will ring with the perfect amount of midrange sparkle.

Hand built in our Custom Shop, each pickup is aged to look and sound like a 1960s original. We use vintage correct blue/yellow cloth pushback lead wire, light gray bottom flatwork, and custom aged covers for just the right look. The Antiquity II Surfer vintage Strat pickups are all lacquered and wax potted.

  • All sets, except the Jimi Hendrix signature model, come with a Middle RWRP as the Middle Pickup.
  • Middle RwRP position (reverse wind/reverse polarity) – choose this to have a pickup that will be hum-cancelling with one of our neck or bridge models.

Love this set. Very versatile

Love this set. Very versatile and chimey without having too much ice pick treble. The custom bridge is perfect for overdrive but still retains its stratty character when played clean. 2nd position has great quack. Highly recommended!

I bought this for the

I bought this for the neck pickup in a vintage tele, ala, Clarence White's tele. A big improvement from the original. A better match to the bridge pickup. You can buy tele pickguards with a Strat cutout.

Wonderful Pickups

I put these in my partscaster because the friend who was helping me build it recommended them. Now that I've gotten a chance to compare it to some other Strats over the months I can confirm that these are great pickups if you want a Strat sound with some body. I prefer a more bodied tone as opposed to the more purely chimey tone of a fifties-style Strat for an all purpose guitar so these work really well for me. I agree with the friend who suggested these that the bridge pickup in particular really separates it from other sets. The overwound bridge really has a thick bodied tone and still has snappy treble. Some Strats have overly bright & thin sounding bridge pickups and I wanted a classic SSS Strat so I am loving this set. The other positions are also rather full sounding and I don't have the kind of drop in volume in the 2 & 4 positions that I hear in some Strats.
