Description

The Custom Custom humbucker delivers that familiar alnico 2 warmth, along with the rich midrange harmonics of a hotter pickup. The result is a humbucker that sounds full and sweet, and has a warm lower midrange growl that really brings chords to life. The Custom Custom has a fatter treble response than any other pickup, and that gives solos a round, sweet, singing quality. Great for adding fullness and warmth to any humbucker equipped instrument. Pair it with the Jazz model or Pearly Gates model in the neck position for a balanced, versatile setup.

Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the Custom Custom medium output humbucker pickups use an alnico 2 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance, and are available in either standard humbucker or Trembucker spacing.

Custom/Custom a clear choice

I purchase from Fender due to the price of Only $159 for a single Squier Sonic single HH. The Guitar played decent, but the pickup was terrible sounding. I already had a JB pickup that was in an 86 Kramer Baretta, which is great, so did not want to replicate the same tone. Checked and the Custom/Custom seemed to fit the bill and sound I like. It did! By the way with the setup on the guitar and redoing the pots and a few other items, the Guitar is great.

I won’t say this is

I won’t say this is perfect for everyone but the custom custom has to be the most perfect guitar-pickup synergy I’ve ever experienced. I bought a relic charvel that was unusually bright and snappy/clanky almost telecaster like. Perhaps the pau ferro neck. It came with a jb and was a bloated mess with weird brightness on top. Then I went to the other direction with a 78 which was way too lean and bright which surprised me. The custom custom is absolutely perfect with just right plumpness in the bass and singing highs all drenched in overtones and character. My intent for this guitar was for early evh tones without looking the part which frees me mentally to go on all classical metal directions. In summary this pickup is sublime in a clear bright guitar but I suspect it would deliver smoky but expressive tone in most any guitar that’s not dead on arrival tone wise

I have installed this pick-up in 1990 selfmade guitar and it's every bit amazing and delivering exactly what I wanted. I wish I could have many of these and try them in other of my guitars. The output is just right and the balanced tone is perfect. This will be the exact pick-up I will buy if I ever need another humbucker.

Great for medium to high gain worship tones

I had this put in an HSH guitar, paired with a 59 neck and a classic stack strat middle. The custom custome works amazingly, super touch responsive and articulate. Killer upper midrange that stands out against a piano and acoustic guitar very well. Totally satisfied with this pickup.

I am an artist for Seymour Duncan, Have been for two decades and I’m totally loyal to the brand. I love the timbre of the custom custom, paired with the ‘59, the tone, warmth and presence make my sound, when I play clean, it’s pristine and when I play with gain, these pickups continue to cut through with unclouded clarity. I’m stoked for my new guitars that ESP is building me right now, They’re infused with the custom custom/‘59 combo, thoroughly top shelf and I’ll forever use this combo!!!

I bought the Custom Custom

I bought the Custom Custom because I wanted something a little hotter for my SG, the guitar I use mainly for pop punk and alternative rock. In the past I tried a few different pickups that were on the hotter side and they were all too bassy for my taste. The Custom Custom is billed as a medium hot bridge pickup with tight bass and that is exactly what it is. Perfect for me. 10 out of 10!

I play a PRS with

I play a PRS with a maple top and ebony fingerboard, which makes the guitar very bright. The SH-11 custom custom smoothed out the treble responce. Also wired it to the push-pull for a split and surprisingly almost takes the tone back to stock sound and output. I really like the increased output in humbucker mode!!

Very responsive to the guitars

Very responsive to the guitars volume settings. Cleans up nicely when volume is backed off and drives my amp just right when guitar volume is cranked. No need for overdrive pedals.

Got one for my partscaster and it sounds a lot like the Seymour Duncan distortion bridge pickup in the my charvel strat.

Powerful clean

I like pickups with a lot of crunch and grit for my bridge but want soaring clean leads with great sustain. This is the best of both. It has the great rock sound but but sings without distorting out. Great pickup for progressive and or classic rock.

A Custom of a Custom and #1 for a reason!

The custom-custom SH-11 was the very first pickup I ever used because it came stock in my very first electric guitar. After almost 10 years of tone chasing and a lot of research I found myself yearning for the unparalleled sound of the custom-custom and I'm so glad to be back!

Very surprised how musical it is

i put this one in a Eddie Van halen tribute guitar i did.. the white frankenstrat i had a dimarsion PAF and it did sound good but i needed more oomph.. so i put this pickup and i am soo surprised how well it plays and is articulate..i am not surprised it's the choice pickup for lots of pro musicians and shredders out there..highly recommended..

Great tone and crunch!

I have this pickup in the bridge of my PRS custom 24. I started with a set of alnico II pros. The bridge was not full enough, was too thin. I kept passing by the custom custom because its eq shows almost no bass, all treble and mids, but as the description says, it has nice warm, fat treble response. It has an awesome crunch and sweet breakup to the mids, without being overly midrangey or stuck in that nasal wah wah sound many mid heavy pickups have. Very happy with it. I’ve been a PAF low output style pickup guy for a while, but now I’m enjoying a hotter, pickup like this one as an alternative. Considering one for my USA wolfgang now too, because those stock pickups are looser n flabby in the lows compared to the custom custom. Both are alnico II but the EVH pickups are not quite as balanced and defined as the custom custom. This is my favorite alnico II pickup so far. Nice to have a hotter than vintage pickup with that magnet type. 5 stars for this one!
