TECH SPECS

DCR – Short for DC Resistance, is measured in Ohms and is the total resistance of the copper wire wound around a coil form. The length of the coil form, the number of turns and the gauge of wire all affect the DCR reading. DCR is often used as a gauge of output because as the turns increase, so does the output, though magnet type and the coil geometry also influence output.
Magnet – We use several different magnet formulations: Alnico 2, Alnico 3, Alnico 4, Alnico 5, Alnico 6, Alnico 8 and Ceramic 5/8. In the case of pickups, the most significant characteristic is the gauss strength, which is a measure of the density of the magnetic field. Of the magnets we use, Alnico 3 has the lowest gauss strength. From there in order of ascending strength you have A2, A4, A5, A6, Ceramic and A8. As the gauss strength goes up, so does the output. The magnets at the lower end of the scale tend to produce a softer attack and a degree of “bloom” to the envelope of the note. Ceramic magnets should be considered as an individual case because they do not contain any nickel or iron. This has the effect of decreasing the inductance of the pickup and significantly raising the resonant frequency. It is for this reason that many consider ceramic magnets to have a brittle sound, not their gauss strength. Looking at this from another point of view, ceramic magnets can be said to produce increased clarity, better note definition and faster response to picking.
Output – The overall output of a passive pickup is influenced by several design factors: number of turns of wire on the coil(s), strength of the magnet, coil geometry and magnetic circuit geometry.The output of an active pickup is influenced by the same factors but is predominantly determined by the design of the onboard preamp.

Description

The Little 59 for Tele is like putting a well-balanced, full sized P.A.F. pickup into the bridge position of your Tele. This medium output, single coil sized pickup has a nice, even bass and treble response with a slightly scooped midrange that gives it that classic, full bodied humbucker sound. Great for everything from Country to Rock. The 4-conductor lead wire gives you access to parallel and split wiring options for added versatility. This pickup is a drop-in replacement for a Fender American Standard Telecaster sized pickup route. Pairs well with our Vintage Stack Tele neck pickup.

Hand made in Santa Barbara, CA, the Little 59 for Tele uses a ceramic bar magnet, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is wax potted for squeal free operation.

Little 59 Second Post, first was when I bought in 2021

The pickup set is excellent, no hum. In comparing the guitar with another seymour full humbucker (custom/custom) the Little 59 does not drive the same way. It retains the tele sound, and when in a distortion mode, still is on the clean side. But the sound is full, as compared to just a normal single coil. Both the neck and bridge sound great. You have to know, that this is good for rock, country, but does not go into the metal venue that a full size humbucker does. Would recommend for these styles of music.

Excellent pickup, I have installed in 3 guitars. No hum, single coil sound, but can overdrive and has a warm tone. I would suggest to anyone this is a great pickup. For tele's strats or even if you have a Fender Mustang, they work great.

Great Pickup

The first thing I want to say is that this pickup doesn't really sound like the big 59. I have a big 59 in another guitar and it has a much rounder sound. Regardless of the name, this pickup is great. I have a Vintera Telecaster Custom and I wasn't happy with the stock bridge pickup. I liked the twang, but with 1M pots stock in that guitar, I wasn't happy with how far I had to turn the tone back before I had a sound that wasn't country fried! I popped this Little '59 Tele pickup into the bridge, following the directions to switch the black and green wires to be in phase with the Fender WRHB. The two pickups sound great together. One more thing I'll say is that depending how close I put the Little '59 Tele to the strings, more "single coil" vibe I get from it. It isn't noisy but it gets that "boxy" quality that single coils provide. So depending on what I'm doing I can drop it down a bit for more of a humbucker sound and I can raise it a bit so it sounds more like a regular Tele. The 1M pots help to make it a bit brighter, so maybe that will help someone else select parts. Great pickup! Thank you so much.

Best Tele bridge pup I have ever tried.

I was very cautious about putting a hotter but not too hot bridge pup for my Tele. I am glad I chose it. It is POWERFUL. Roll off the tone and the pup serves up cleaner tones etc. All the way up this little pup roars.

Little 59' Telecaster Pickup in a Strat style body Swamp Ash with a maple neck with Rosewood finger board

Just finished this build and the 59 sounds excellent. I can use the bridge pickup by itself and it sounds great. The Tele sparkle, but with a bit of weight to the sound. It does not sound thin, and pairs well using the neck pickups which also is a noiseless pickup..
