Notes for Notes® is a non-profit organization which builds, equips, and staffs after-school recording studios packed with guitars, drums, keys/synths, DJ gear, digital music stations and full recording studios offering youth completely FREE access to explore, create, and record music. Notes for Notes has 2 studios in Boys & Girls Clubs in Santa Barbara, 2 in Nashville, 1 in LA, and coming soon to Ventura and Detroit with NYC, San Francisco, and Miami on the horizon.
Founded in Santa Barbara, CA, like the world famous Seymour Duncan pickups, Notes for Notes has grown to a national organization aimed at building its studios called MusicBox Studios® all over the country and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of incredibly generous artists and companies like Seymour Duncan. The Seymour Duncan Benefit supporting Notes for Notes is an annual event that features some of the most renowned legends of guitar-2011: Steve Miller Band; 2012: Los Lobos with Joe Bonamassa; 2013: Jimmy Vivino & The Basic Cable Band with SLASH, Robert Randolph, Alan Parsons, Seymour Duncan, and Don Felder. These events raising each year over 50,000 have helped Notes for Notes sustain and grow to new cities across the country offering youth one-of-a-kind opportunities to explore music and its power in our lives. Notes for Notes thanks Seymour Duncan and the community of artists and music lovers that continue to help “Produce Tomorrow’s Musicians”
Imagine a world without Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. Without B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Sting, and the Beatles. Without Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson or the Foo Fighters. Without marching bands at football games, string quartets at weddings, and Mariachi bands at Fiesta. What a bleak place our planet would be! But that’s exactly what is happening everywhere, and it’s getting worse with each passing day.
Notes for Notes expenses include musical equipment and supplies, staff salaries, and fundraising activities. Notes for Notes maintains an extremely lean budget and thanks to a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs, operates with minimal to no overhead. This means that the majority of funding is focused on programming and directly benefits the youth served.
