Scary Tone From The Custom Shop

MJ and the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop can create any pickup imaginable. These pickups were custom-made with a Halloween theme for one of our artists, and you can get nearly any Seymour Duncan pickup in a variety or cosmetics to satisy your inner beast.

A customer dreamed up these zombie-inspired humbuckers just in time for Halloween, with Alnico 8 magnets that are sure to wake up all the ghouls.

Musicians Institute Fall 2017 Seymour Duncan Scholarship Winners

Musicians Institute and Seymour Duncan are proud to announce the Fall Scholarship Winners, Chanjin Oh and Calvin Rasmussen!

Chanjin Oh, winner of the Fall 2017 Seymour Duncan Bass Scholarship, comes to Musicians Institute from South Korea armed with a serious dedication for the bass and a passion for playing rock. He describes his future goals and aspirations as “seeing people listening to my music and being happy.  If they enjoy while they listen to my music, that encourages me to play my music and I will be remembered as a good musician that makes people happy. That is the final goal of my life and my dream.” Read more here.

Here’s Chanjin On with Bass Program Chair Maurice Verloop.

Calvin Rasmussen, who takes out the Fall 2017 Seymour Duncan Guitar Craft Academy Scholarship honors, says “I’ve been interested in building guitars for a year and a half. I’ve watched a lot of videos and have tinkered a little bit on my own here and there. I chose MI because if you want to master something, you need to learn from a master. MI offers me a chance to benefit from the wisdom of some truly great artisans and craftsmen.” We look forward to seeing the results of his study and vision! Read more here.

How To Tame A Muddy-Sounding Tele Neck Pickup

If you’ve ever felt that your Telecaster’s neck pickup sounded too muddy, there’s a simple fix that Seymour has been doing for years. All you need to do is connect a .047 capacitor in series (directly in-line) with the hot output wire from the neck pickup. This will filter out the excess low-end and clean up the muddy tone. Here’s how to do it:

Of course, if you want a different sound altogether we’re always happy to offer advice on the perfect neck pickup for you.

Seymour Duncan Andromeda Dynamic Delay – By Nok Novum

The Andromeda Dynamic Delay is a new approach to the traditional digital delay – as much a performance tool as it is a sound effect. Normal, Ping Pong, Reverse and Reverse Pong modes are available in Digital and Analog voicings for lush analog delays, vibey tape echoes, pristine digital repeats and psychedelic soundscapes. But that’s not all: what truly sets Andromeda apart is the exclusive Dynamic Expression™ feature that allows you to control how the pedal reacts, in real time with your picking attack. That means you can alter settings for Mix, Modulation or Saturation on the fly, just by how you play.

In this installment, Seymour Duncan’s own Max Gutnik explains how to use Dynamic Expression on the new Seymour Duncan Andromeda Delay pedal.
