Introducing Liberator—the Solderless Pickup Change System from Seymour Duncan

Bye, bye, soldering iron. Today, Seymour Duncan announces Liberator, a new Solderless Pickup Change System.  With Liberator installed, anyone who can use a screwdriver can change pickups!

Liberator is a bare-wire Lockdown system integrated with a volume pot. In other words, it’s like a patch-bay for your pickups. Like a studio patch bay or telephone switchboard, Liberator combines quick-change connections up front with hard-wired connections behind the scenes. And thanks to the screw-clamp Lockdown system, connections are rock-solid reliable.

39 Stripes new album Beyond Broken

Tampa, Florida-based Christian rockers 39 Stripes announced the release of their first full-length project, Beyond Broken, October 26, 2010. The album’s debut singles “My Desire” and “Mustard Seed” are currently vying for adds at Christian AC and Rock radio.
Produced by 39 Stripes lead guitarist Steve Henderlong, Beyond Broken has been two years in the making due to a slew of significant hardships for the band, both personally and professionally. Consequently, the album, which 39 Stripes describes as its “best sounding and most well written CD to date,” focuses largely on trusting God in life’s joys and heartaches.
Steve is a long time Duncan endorsee and has used many of our products throughout the years. It’s obvious when listening to Beyond Broken that Steve is a seasoned guitar player with amazing tone. Here’s what he has to say about the Duncan pickups used on the new album.
“For the new 39 Stripes CD “Beyond Broken” I used Seymour Duncan pickups like I always do. I usually use the Custom Custom (bridge) and the Jazz (neck), but my Duncan Distortion loaded PRS guitars got a lot of use in the studio this time around. The big surprise for me was the P-Rails! P-Rails allowed me to get humbucking, single coil, and P-90 tones all from the same guitar without sacrificing tones. For our song “Blind,” I made it a point to use the P-Rails on every track just to see how much sonic ground I could cover! The cleans, means, and in-betweens are all from the P-Rail. What an awesome pickup design!”
Ray Schurr, bassist for 39 Stripes, is also a Duncan user.
“I have been using the SPB-3 & STK-J2b in all of my basses for live and studio. Nice full tones with lots of diverse sounds.”

Anberlin – Fully loaded with Duncan Pickups

Florida rockers Anberlin, known for songs like “Feel Good Drag” and “Impossible”are up to it again with the release of their fifth studio album entitled Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place.  And, they are hitting the road fully loaded with Duncan pickups.  All three guitar players of Anberlin rely on Seymour Duncan for their tone. The band’s bassist, Deon Rexroat plays the Quarter Pound Jazz Bass Pickup (SJB-3) and says:
“I’ve been in love with Seymour Duncans since the first time I borrowed a friend’s P-bass with [Quarter Pounds] installed. The tone was so round and fat, but still clear and natural.  Years later, I still install them into all of my basses.”
Deon uses: Sjb-3, stk-j1n, stk-j1b
And, Joey Milligan on lead guitar says:
“Seymour Duncans have given me the perfect balance of enormously heavy and perfect clarity that I need, no other pickups have been able to give me that.”
Joey uses: Sh-1, Sh-4, Sh-13

After The Burial

After The Burial – In Dreams

After the Burial, the band known for their technical eight string guitar proficiency, is releasing a new album. This much anticipated work of brutal art entitled In Dreams will be available on Nov. 23. Guitar masters Justin and Trent some how managed to out do them selves again in creating a master piece that will wake the dead.

“Hey guys, it’s been a long time coming and we are proud to say that our new full-length album, In Dreams, hits stores everywhere today. I must admit, this has been quite the experience for us. There were some ups and also some downs, but we have worked with each other to overcome everything that was holding us back ultimately emerging as a much stronger group. With that being said, we are absolutely pleased to deliver this recording to you. We worked extremely hard to ensure you are getting the absolute strongest AFTER THE BURIAL album yet.”
Both Justin and Trent use the 8 string blackouts in the studio and on the road.
“The Blackout 8’s are the best things to happen to our 8 string guitars, beside the extra string of course! Their tone is unmatched to any pickups we’ve ever used before.  Getting this kind of clarity in even the lowest possible tunings seems like an impossible idea, but these get the job done and done extremely well.”
Make sure to get a copy of In Dreams available in stores now.

John Butler

American-born and Aussie-raised John Butler has become a fixture on the alternative-jam-roots scene. The multi-instrumentalist front man of the John Butler Trio is adept at banjo, didgeridoo, drums and harmonica. But it’s his unique fingerstyle work with an amplifed acoustic guitar that draws praise from fans, peers and critics alike. John fits his Maton 12-string acoustic with a Seymour Duncan Mag-Mic and runs it through a Marshall JMP Super Lead and into a Marshall 4×12 speaker cabinet. The result is an acoustic guitar tone like no other. It’s pristine and clean at times and huge and dirty-distorted at others. And the Mag Mic drives it all.

According to John, “I’ve used a few different pickups through the years and the Seymour Duncan Mag Mic gives me the grunt, evenness, and clarity I need to get my sound. Thanks Seymour!”
The John Butler Trio is currently on a world tour. Evan Skopp, our Head of Artist Relations, caught up with John backstage at New York’s Madison Square Garden where, after a firey set in support of the Dave Matthews Band, John taught Evan the “secret handshake.” If you like reggae infused acoustic jam rock like you’ve never heard it before, make sure to check out the John Butler Trio immediately.
