Description

The original Blackouts high-output active bridge humbucker delivers all of the power and full-bodied punch that today’s metal players demand from an active pickup. You get the high-output signal level of an active pickup, with a more organic feel and open tonal response that allows the true character of your guitar to come through. The treble and bass response is extended beyond the range of traditional active pickups and has been carefully balanced with a slightly scooped midrange for the perfect crunch.

This pickup excels at screaming pinched harmonics and is articulate enough for hyper-speed riffage, with responsive dynamics across the entire fretboard. Pair it with the Blackouts neck humbucker for a perfectly matched set. If your metal goes into extended-range depths, Blackouts are also available in 7- and 8-string versions.

With clear highs and crushingly tight lows, these pickups will make your riffs speak all the way down to low B or dropped A (for 7-strings) and low F# or dropped E (for 8-strings). No matter how much gain you run, these pickups can handle it, with a dead-quiet, muscular performance.

Whether your instrument is routed for passive or active pickups, there is a Blackout that will fit it. These high-output active pickups come with the pots, hardware, quick-connector cables, capacitor (active pickups require a special cap value), output jack, battery clip, and wire needed for installation. If your guitar already has active pickups with quick-connector cables, you should be able to simply unplug them and plug in your Blackouts.

Shockingly Versatile Bridge Pickup

I got these put in my Schecter earlier this year because the active hot rodded stock pickups never sounded good to me, way too much buzz when overdriven for metal and hard rock. The AHB-1 exceeded my expectations. Not only does it have a clear tone with a big mid scoop in clean and overdriven tones that I love, but it becomes a whole other pickup depending on where the volume is. Putting the volume near full really gives you that very responsive and articulate metal tone that rivals Fishman, halfway gives you a more passive modern tone on the crunch side, and closer to being off retains a lot of sound giving you a great alternative rock sound. This thing is crazy versatile and genre-defying! I also have a Sustainiac in the neck, this thing really crushes those lead tones for stuff like thrash and metalcore, and works with the Sustainiac neck beautifully. Would highly recommend this for people who like all kinds of metal and rock with an active twist.

I've used blackouts for a good while now and I love them . The only thing that could make them better is being functional without the battery. Lol . But there still the best pickups on the planet .. but for some reason I can't seem to get this one working . I've tried everything I know to do.

Smooth, balanced. Cleans up really

Smooth, balanced. Cleans up really well, and will roll on the gain with the volume knob. I'm considering these for my other guitars now. My only gripe (more of a knit-pick) has to do with the wiring diagram on the website. There is no option for HH with one volume and one tone for these specifically (there is for the Mustaine's), which would have helped with my decision. I figured I could follow a similar one and work it out, but I was pleasantly surprised when the included instructions had the diagram I was hoping for.

Just what i needed

I’ve been trying to get a good sound out of my Derick Whybley telecaster for 5 years. It had a duncan design humbucker, which sounded okay, but i knew it could do more. Tried shawbucker 2 with fender pots and hardware, sound went to a lot of highs with almost no lows, even though at the store the pickup sounded great on a strat, and then few years later here i am deciding to try blackouts. It was the best decision i could make, since i run jb and hot rails on my other guitar, which is strat and wanted something different for tele. They sound exceptionally good and having a no-hum guitar with very clear sound is such a pleasure.
