great pickups, the only ones I will buy.

I paired an AS-1 Blackouts Strat neck with an AHB-1 Blackouts humbucker bridge, and it was tremendous for my guitar. I installed them my Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic (Black Limba) with a Floyd. The Blackouts Strat neck absolutely matches the output of the AHB-1, while maintaining its single-coil-like character. It's so powerful you can easily roll back your tone knob to cop neck humbucker tones, including sweet PAF style when you roll back the volume knob too. I get just unbelievable cleans with this pickup, vintage Fender style when I roll back the volume and tone knobs, to edge of breakup beauty, smokey blues, blues rock, to rock, even to metal. It handles everything I throw at it. I've never had a pickup so versatile. I tried wiring the the dual pin jumper to a switch, but I really could not hear a difference unless I rolled back my volume knob quite a bit, so I thought it wasn't really necessary for me, since I ride my volume and tone knobs all the time anyway. Of course this is actually a hum cancelling pickup, but it just seems like it would be quieter than anything else out there, due to the unique preamp with its balanced inputs. My guitar has 24 frets, and I've always fought to get soulful neck tones out of that thing, until this pickup. This is making my 24 fret guitar sound like a 22 fret to me, which is what I've been looking for for years. The one gripe I had is that, since I bought this as a single pickup and not in a set, it did not include the unusual value .47 microfarad cap, so I had to order one elsewhere, since I assigned a separate volume and tone pot to this pickup. By contrast, the AHB-1 came with its own cap, even though it was not part of a set. I am over the moon for how awesome this thing is. I'm always aiming for versatility, warmth, soul, and character, and now I have it.
