Best sounding Strat I’ve ever had. The bridge does not always sound like surf music anymore. SSL-1(N)/ SSL-1(M)/ SSL-5(B) is the way to go for 70’s classic/prog rock. Drop these in your MIM Strat and you won’t be disappointed. These were a huge upgrade from my 50s Vintera Mod pickups. I thought those sounded pretty great already and was hesitant to upgrade. Really glad I did. Pure Gilmour bliss!

Well S—-t this pickup lends some beefy shoulder to an otherwise skinny sounding single coil. I had my 73 stat stolen thankfully it didn’t sound this good or I would be inconsolable. I am impressed. Thanks for being there Seymour. I have had a rough time finding a new number one. This makes the difference for me. Again thank you.

I put together a Fender hardtail strat (my first). Your technical people guided me to a single coil (Gilmore) setup. The guitar sounds amazing.

Much better output and less noise than my stock Fender pickups. I was a little surprised that the wires were at either end, which made installation a little more difficult, but overall, I love this pickup!

Seymour Duncan Custom Staggered SSL-5s fit great in my Mini-Strat rebuild and they have tons of chime tons of punch!! The ordering experience was terrific. The units were well-packaged and arrived early. I used one of the many available wiring diagrams for a successful install.

I installed two of these (RSVW on the mid position) on the first two top positions on my 2006 American Series Fender Strat and it pairs very well with my SD Hot Rails on the bridge.

The perfect middle pickup for my setup. Paired with the Duncan Custom humbucker and the five two neck pickup, the tones I’m able to get out of my strat are unbelievable. It’s like an entirely new instrument. 10/10 would recommend.

I installed the 7 string version of the custom staggered strat in the neck position of a 7 string Warmoth build. I'm pretty impressed with this one. Everything you could really want in a strat neck pickup. Nice, tight low end that really works with the low B string of the 7 string. Percussive attack with bell like tone that mellows out nicely either by rolling off the guitar's volume knob, or using the guitar's tone control. Very responsive, and quite powerful output for a single coil. It easily keeps up with the 7 string JB humbucker that I installed in the bridge position of the guitar. If you're after the classic strat tones it's a tough one to beat...and you can't go wrong with the extra output of this one.

Only played them once in rehearsal but they sound great. First gig w/ them today. That's the real test.

SD's have made it possible, finally after 40 years, to acquire tones I assumed had been produced in the studio. A joyful playing experience!

I just read another review where the reviewer said they don't normally write reviews - here's another. I've played my '78 Strat for the last 40+ years, much of it full time. I stuck with 2 switch positions because the others weren't usable, particularly the bridge pickup by itself. Tried different amps and pedals and had a luthier rewire it, but couldn't get a good sound. I just replaced the bridge with a JB Jr., and the middle (RWRP) and neck with SSL-5s. I thought it would sound better (or I wouldn't have gone to the trouble), but the guitar now has much more of the classic Strat tone. Surprise, surprise. I was sure that the original Fender pups would have taken care of that, but no. Bridge pickup is now wholly usable, complex chords sound better because of the increased clarity, and the old strings I left on while I was working on it sound better than new ones used to. That's all - vintage isn't everything.

Rwrp ssl5 sounds good like I knew it would!

I recently bought the 7-string version of this pickup in order to replace the factory "Duncan Designed" single-coil neck pickup in my 2002 Schecter 007 Elite. It helped bring new life to that guitar and makes me want to actually use the neck pickup more often. I normally play metal, so I also replaced the bridge humbucker with a Pegasus-7, but the SSL-5 sounds great for when I feel more like playing some blues. The installation was simple and I'm really glad that I made the upgrade.
