Description

The Full Shred medium-output bridge humbucker delivers a clear, focused tone with a nicely balanced treble and bass response, and a backed-off midrange. The shorter Allen head poles and Alnico 5 bar magnet bring a nice crisp clarity to the high end, while keeping the low end tight and articulate. It’s great for all types of rock, blues, and metal, and works well in any humbucker-equipped guitar with medium to warm tone.

The Full Shred neck is designed for players who want maximum clarity from their neck position. This pickup also uses an Alnico 5 bar magnet and short Allen screw poles to create a tighter, brighter neck humbucker tone than ever before. It’s bright and clear enough to breathe life into the middle position of a dual-humbucker guitar, giving it an almost Tele-like quality. The Full Shred neck gets along beautifully with the Full Shred bridge, but can also be combined with one of our high-output bridge pickups like the Invader, Duncan Distortion, or Alternative 8.

Because the Full Shred has such an articulate voice, it works brilliantly as a 7-string pickup, lending separation and distinction to even the lowest and most distorted riffs. Also available in Trembucker spacing (for symmetrical positioning under the strings of guitars with a tremolo or wide-spaced hardtail bridge), the Full Shred medium-output humbucker pickup is hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA, factory, uses an Alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel-silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.

This is my second set.

This is my second set. Usually a JB/59 or Distortion is what I prefer, but I really love these. If you’re after a great pickup for 80’s/90’s hair metal/thrash, this will likely check all the boxes. They are somewhat scooped mid-range wise, which fits, given their overall sound. Great with higher gain and you still get great note clarity. This is slowly becoming my favorite pickup.

I have used Seymour Duncan

I have used Seymour Duncan pickups in all my guitars for 30+ years. They are a crucial part of my sound, I won't use anything else.

This was the first replacement

This was the first replacement pickup I bought for a guitar I was building in high school shop around 1988. I’m glad it still sounds as good as I remember it. It has definitely improved the tone and punch of the Dean V I put it in. Thanks for a great product.

I bought this to brighten

I bought this to brighten up my Les Paul's neck pickup which is too dark and muddy sounding. I'm pairing it with a JB at the bridge which may be an unusual pairing but I love the JB in the bridge. Seems to have done the trick and brightened up the neck and added enough output that the neck pickup is useful to me now.

Love The Full Shred!

I have The Full Shred in my Charvel and out of all the guitars i have with Dimarzios, EMGs and other Duncans, this one is head and shoulders above all the rest. Love the thickness of the tone. The lows are perfect for me and it doesn't have that annoying high-end fizz that so many have. Would love to get these in all my 6 and 7 string guitars.

Bought the Full Shred neck

Bought the Full Shred neck to match with a Full Shred bridge for my Strat. I wanted a full top end with a clean bottom end and to replace a really noisy single coil I had there. Worked like a charm!

Excellent ... for church music!

I bought this about a year ago because I did not like the PG+ pickup that came in my Fender Showmaster. So I got the Full Shred because like 3 years ago I read some review by some church musician on another website that says the Full Shred set worked great in church. Installed it, with the 5-way switching that the higher end Showmaster guitars used, and was blown away by how good it sounded. It is a tad bit light on bass, but it totally makes up for that in the clarity and precision it brings. It makes an excellent lead pickup, even in church. And in split positions, it sounds amazing (like position 4, with neck {Jazz RWRP] in parallel coil + the Full Shred split, where it sounds similar to a Telecaster). I strongly recommend it!

Fantastic neck pickup! It’s a scooped sound that reminds me of a single coil in the neck which I LOVE. It’s articulate and nice for lead playing specifically.

Try this pickup in parallel

Try this pickup in parallel wiring mode for really tight rhythm tone and go to series operation for a good lead sound, most metal pickups are way oversaturated so the articulation is very pleasing.

Wow

I just bought a Charvel with this pickup in the bridge position and it is amazing. It sounds great from clean to crunch to massively distorted. The single coil mode is excellent, too. Great clarity without being shrill. A lot of humbuckers are a bit lacking as a single coil, they usually don't have quite the punch. I won't say this sounds just like a Tele but Telecaster style riffs still sound great. Don't be fooled by the name, this pickup can do everything but let you put the guitar down.

Back to shred

Thanks for the swift shipping amd having what I couldn't find amywhere else! I used to have full shreds and I got rid of them to try out some different pickups. My buddy has some and reminded me how punchy and lercussive they are. So glad to get some more.

This is such a clear pickup.

This pickup is really clear. There is articulation with any gain level for this pickup. The medium output works well on any amplifier. This is one of the best neck pickups and great for single note leads with neck position. The treble position has a great bite and wonderful for harmonics.

Angels and Demons

The first pickup I ever ordered was an SD Full Shred bridge for a $100 Sears guitar. A friend later asked me why my POS guitar sounded better than his $2600 BC Rich. In my opinion there is no other pickup that has its beauty or versatility.

Just...WOW

I've tried many Seymour Duncans. Custom, Custom 5, Custom Custom, JB, Pearly Gates, Distortion, Invader, Blackouts...but this one is definitely my favorite. It has all my favorite qualities of those pickups rolled into one. Tight low end, great harmonics, string separation, great highs without getting shrill. How this pup is not more mentioned and used is beyond me. Don't let the Full Shred name fool you it's a fantastic sounding versatile pickup.
