There's a good reason this pickup configuration has been around for so long. They sound amazing whether in humbucker or in single coil mode.

Bought this set to upgrade my "double fat" Strat. It instantly went from sounding like mud to having a beautiful, singing tone. The JB absolutely screams at high gain, while the Jazz is nice and round but bright at the same time. They complement each other nicely.

First of all I want to say Seymour Duncan has superb customer service, they always answer my questions quickly and are very kind and professional, and they honor their word, that alone is reason enough to purchase from them. I was always reluctant to get this set, I didn’t want the most popular set, I wanted something unique. Plus I’ve had a guitar or two with a JB and I always thought they were shrill sounding. Then I decided to get these after avoiding them for years (plus an article I read about the pot for the JB), and I’m glad I did, there’s a reason they are the most popular. The Jazz neck pickup is the best neck humbucker I’ve ever played (I have played many - you’ll just have to trust me), this one is a gem. The bridge JB (jazz bridge?) is also excellent. I added a 470k resistor on the bridge pot to make it a 250k-ish pot based on an article read saying JB was meant for a 250k pot. This mod seems to have tamed down the shrill sounds I’ve heard from JBs on other guitars. Great smooth rock tone and sounds better than a regular “PAF” for metal style Mesa Boogie tones. I don’t regret these at all and am kicking myself for not getting them sooner. If you just want one of these get the Jazz neck, it’s other worldly.

I had an old Epiphone SG that I had purchased in 2001, it was low end, and the pick ups were terrible. Although I have other guitars, I decided to upgrade this one, and I am sure that the pick ups are more expensive than the guitar itself. Both neck and bridge pick up sound great and made this guitar Come back to life. Of course the body and construction of the guitar is what you would expect for a cheap model, and I am sure that this would sound 1000 times better in a more expensive guitar, but they made the guitar usable and more enjoyable to play. I would recommend to anybody wanting to upgrade.

I'm sure they'll be great I have a JB in one of my other guitars in there on the bridge and it's fantastic and then I have a a jazz humbucker on the other one and I like both those they're very very good my guitar sings

My DAngelico Jazz box shipped with your Hot Rod set, and they are amazing! Since they are 4 wire pickups I was able to build a custom wiring harness that allows me to split each pickup individually, and throw them out of phase with push-pull pots. They give me a vintage woody warm tone at the neck, and a scalding hot bridge pickup that reminds me of an 80's era Distortion Plus (but considerably warmer sounding). I can get almost any tone I need with the push of a pot, and by simply adjusting my volume/tone controls.

Recently acquired a three pickup Epiphone Les Paul and it came with this set and the prior owner left the original middle in. I'd never had Seymour Duncans before but I fell in love with the Jazz in the neck immediately and then with the JB for the bridge. Rich, articulate, textured sounding. Pushes the amp just right for me and makes the guitar sing with emotion infused tone.

I bought this set and installed in my Jackson Kelly. Sounds like a different guitar in every way! I would definitely recommend this combination to anyone that plays rock to metal and everything beetween

I istalled a JB/Jazz set on my Jackson JS22. They sound way better than the stock pickups. I have the red and the white wire connected together on both pickups since i just have a basic 1 knob tone control. The only issue I have is that for some reason the neck pickup (jazz) is louder that the bridge (jb) and I'm not sure if this is normal. Other than that I am happy.

I bought an IYV LP copy (yes, that one) and after the setup it was time to replace all the electronics and pickups. Best sounding guitar I have ever owned. Top notch pickups

Installed in a Les Paul with 920D prewired harness.. 2 volume with 2 push/pull tone pots… these pickups are very articulate, robust and crisp!! Im very happy with these humbuckers!!

My limited edition D'Angelico SS Boardwalk came with nickel HOT RODS from the factory! I quickly decided to replace the factory "import" harness with a hand-wired harness featuring 500k AT USA Bourns push-pulls, cloth wrapped hi-cap wiring and a switchcraft jack & toggle. This electronics upgrade added top-end and split and phase options so I could take full advantage of these amazing pickups! 🙂

Great pickups that I put in my Schecter Omen 6, Jeff @ Seymour Duncan is a great customer service agent, post office lost my 1st pickups and Jeff was great at getting me another set sent to me. You have my loyalty as long as customer service stays great.

A rhythm player has to find a way to be present during the loud lead drama. These Hot-Rod Humbuckers are the way to go!

I spent 5 months trying to get a decent tone with my Epiphone Les Paul Muse with Alnico Classic Pro. I thought I needed a new amp, new processor. I had to make severe cuts with parametric EQ just to make it sound half decent. Super muddy. Excessive low end, in a really bad way. Tons of note dropouts. With distortion, it's really woofy. On clean, it's distorted, dull and muddy. These Seymour Duncans saved this guitar. Now I finally love it! Had to throw out the previous EQ, now it hardly needs any, and only because the amp is low-mid heavy. These pickups are so clear and defined. They're great for sparkling clean 'jazz' and extra crunchy 'metal'. They put stock pickups to shame!

I bought a guitar off Amazon and I throw in the Hotrodder set. I never would thought I could get this type of tone out of it. I spent 30 plus years mixing live sound and I have heard from great to bad. Hell, the wife now understands the meaning of “tone”. Looks like upgrades all around. Thanks gang great job

This is the second set of these pickups that I purchased. Installation was easy and the sounds are fantastic. Both sets were installed in PRS SE series guitars. I highly recommend these pickups.

I recently installed this set in a 2008 Epiphone SG 310. They took a $500 guitar and turned it into a $1500 guitar. I have no words to describe this pickup set other than..'AWESOME, COMPLETELY AWESOME. What a guitar changer.

I recently purchased the “Hot-Rodded” set and 4 Seymour Duncan 500k pots for my Epiphone Les Paul trad. Pro model guitar and was absolutely amazed at how it sounds. I used Seymour’s pick-up finder tool plus the pick-up installation tutorials with wiring diagrams and the whole process went smooth and rewarding!!! I cannot express in words how much satisfaction I have from receiving the knowledge and experience that Seymour Duncan and his team of professionals offer, but hearing how my guitar sounds now will leave you speechless too!!!! awesome pick up set, just installed them in my '01 Les Paul standard, what an improvement, Easy to install and very clear instructions for how ever you want to wire them. They improved my bass, midrange and treble, improved the clarity and pick response and sound very clean and when I add gain they rip!!!!
