Description

The Pegasus/Sentient medium output humbucker pickup set offers progressive players the ultimate palette of modern metal tones. The Pegasus bridge was originally designed for extended range instruments. However, 6 string players immediately demanded we offer a version to call their own. It incorporates an alnico 5 bar magnet and custom winding specs. The goal was to deliver a warm, balanced, responsive, and lush tone for progressive metal. It’s a harmonically rich pickup with a prominent midrange and a focused low end. The high resonant peak makes for a sparkly top end and an incredible “bloom” on chords in high-gain situations. The responsive and accurate pick attack ensures that you will cut through any live mix and will have tight-tracking transients in a studio environment. Because the Pegasus is a moderate output pickup, it works as well for clean tones as it does for distorted tones.

The Sentient neck delivers a balanced, versatile tone that fits right between our iconic ’59 and Jazz model neck pickups. You’ll get pristine cleans and fluid leads under high gain. The Sentient is a very articulate vintage output pickup with great dynamic response and a wide harmonic range. It works great for low tunings in all humbucker-equipped guitars.

Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA, factory, the Pegasus and Sentient medium output humbucker pickups both feature an alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.

Amazing pickups!

Just wow! After hearing these, I can't believe the stock pickups they put in guitars. Even a $729 PRS SE Mira. Stock pickups dull and muddy. These are 100 times better. So pristine and clear. I haven't even changed the strings yet and these 2 month old super dead strings are bright and sparkly with these pickups. And Pegasus: I've never heard such a chunky bridge pickup! PRS, Epiphone: your stock pickups in under $1,000 models are shameful! Save us the trouble of changing them and just use Seymour Duncans as stock and charge us the difference.

Extremely versatile set of pickups

You get everything with this set. Beautiful clean tones that are full bodied. You can achieve a very aggressive high gain sound that doesn’t sacrifice note clarity. These pickups are so dynamic that you can get everything in between by just adjusting your volume control or pick attack. You usually have to make some sort of sacrifice with pickups. Pickups that sound great clean might be muddy with high gain. A pickup that is very focused and clear with high gain might not have the dynamics or bass response that you need for clean and low gain tones. None of these are a problem with the Pegasus and Sentient pickups. The Sentient surprised me most of all. It will give smooth and creamy leads with plenty of note clarity, as you would expect from a nice neck pickup, but at the same time you get a nice high gain rhythm tone as if it was your bridge pickup. All of this without needing to make any adjustments to eq. If you feel like the stock pickups in your guitar aren’t giving you the dynamics or clarity you want, just get this set. It’s fairly priced and you won’t be disappointed.

Sounds Great in my Chapman ML3

Compared to the stock Madrigal Humbuckers from Chapman these things scream and have great clarity and tone. I actually like the sound even better than the EMGs in my EC-401. I did have to grind down the tabs that screw into the guitar due to being too large for the routed out parts of my guitar. Other than that I would've given it 5 stars.

Perfect for a baritone guitar

I put this set in an HSH, 6-string baritone (28" scale) Strat-style home-built guitar (mahogany neck and body, 24 frets). I also put a Hot Rails in the middle. These pickups handle the entire range incredibly well. The Sentient is the smoothest, neck pickup I've ever tried. It sounds great clean, really picking up on the natural acoustic sound of the guitar. You can get really nice funk rhythms out of them, too. High gain leads are as described: fluid, like magma. The Pegasus does shimmering cleans through spanky, crunchy tones through brutal chugs. The second tone pot is wired to the middle pickup on my guitar, so this pickup is just wide open. This guitar is my muse. I wanted something different and, boy, did I get it. I highly recommend getting an extended scale guitar (or better yet, build your own!) and installing these pickups: you'll fall in love with guitar all over again 🙂

Just awesome pickups, the Sentient

Just awesome pickups, the Sentient and Pegasus is EXACTLY what my 200$ 7 string Ibanez needed. Sooo versatile from clean to scream. Tightest pickups I've played since the lines to pickup my babymama.

Perfect balance

This combo is killer. Running them in an ESP Stephen Carpenter SRC-6 through a Randall Satan 120w. They are articulate yet heavy. Playing prog rock/metal and shoe gaze stuff, these are perfect!
