Description

A faithful tribute to the 1950 original, our Vintage Broadcaster is the perfect choice for discerning players who demand something more from their Tele lead pickup. Our Broadcaster uses a special wind that best represents this pioneering era in Fender history. The Alnico 5 magnets with a slightly larger diameter of .197 and higher output coax biting treble and snarly mids for raucous riffs and stinging lead runs from any Telecaster. Try it in front of a fuzz pedal for that unmistakable British rock sound. Pair with our Vintage Tele Rhythm for great vintage setup.

Like all our Vintage models, we stay true to the smallest details. We hand grind our magnets, then hand assemble the bobbins from the traditional Forbon and dip them in lacquer before winding. The lacquer stabilizes the Forbon for decades of use. After winding, the pickup is wrapped with black cotton yarn and vintage style waxed cloth hookup wire is soldered to the coil eyelets. Wax potting with the classic tele copper plated steel bottom plate installed completes the pickup for squeal free performance.

Installed into my MiM Tele and I am very satisfied with the tones I’m getting! Balanced string response and handles gain well. Pairs great with a twisted Tele neck pup. Classic Tele tone and quality that only Seymour Duncan provide! Props to Jeff Collier for the personal recommendation thank you!

Hello Seymour and Cathy! This

Hello Seymour and Cathy! This is a great pickup. I have a MIJ Tele with a B Bender in it. In the 90’s Seymour sent me a custom set of Pete Anderson spec pickups. Lately I determined I wanted a bit more grit and growl from the bridge pickup. This one is exactly what I wanted and the guitar has much more range and versatility. Best to all at SD. You folks were one of my favorite clients in the 90’s when I ran Loft Markting. Thanks, Phil Moon

I love the sound of my new pickups. However, the rubber "springs" that allow setting the pickup height with the screws were totally useless. I had to buy real metal springs from my local hardware store. I think you folks should consider adding better components for the PU height adjustment.

Add Tumnus.

I came close to swapping for Himbuckers in a 52 Virtual Tele. I wasn’t a fan of pickup. Nor am I a fan of Tumnus,. Both rather flat. When paired together with dirt (Tone-bone HotBrit) this pickup swells with articulation. I no longer plan on swapping.

I've had several before which I put in Partscasters. The tone is right there where I like it. Plenty of mids with some snarl to it. Sort of in the style of the La Brea Paisley pups and the Jerry Donahue model. I mix and match depending on the guitar's body and neck. Meaning the type of wood such as Alder, Ash or Pine etc. With the neck it's the radius and the fret board wood that make a difference. The Broadcaster is a great country stlye pickup with lots of mid twang and some growl which is great for a little of that overdriven tone. I matched it with a Warmoth tapered radius rosewood neck an a 20 year old Highway 1 Alder body with a La Brea neck pickup. A keeper,,,bingo!

Beautiful sounding pickup. Classic twangy honk and twang but without the searing high frequency ice pick that I hear so many talk about. Beautiful. Nashville tele combines classic country rockabilly with old school strat tones.

So far, so good. Two minor things. The pickup is going in a new lap steel self-built. A wiring diagram with a single pickup and no switch would be helpful. Also a template for the unit's cut-out in the body would be useful along with minimal installation instructions. I look forward to finishing the guitar and firing it up.

Had a terrific experience, I actually ordered a ‘54 vintage tele pickup, then changed my mind 10 minutes later and went with the Vintage Broadcaster - I was refunded my $$ for the Vintage ‘54 very quickly and got an equally fast response from customer service. Super satisfied and I will gladly order from Seymour Duncan again. Best pickups in the biz!

Im amazed at the quality

Im amazed at the quality Seymour Duncan gives for the price. There’s a reason they are a big name brand. They’ve earned every single bit of it. This pickup sounds amazing. Really versatile. Can do a really great clean and a really great dirty. Still has that vintage character that makes you play different. It’s magic in some metal and plastic, I tell you that.

Vintage Broadcaster Tele Pickup

I purchased an original 1952 Fender Telecaster second hand in 1964. Even at that time it was a very well-played guitar, showing a lot of wear. At some time in its history, the original bridge pickup was replaced with mid 50s Telecaster staggered-pole bridge pickup; that's the way I bought it. That pickup was very bright, microphonic and fed back very easily. I thought to have it wax dipped to try to resolve the problems, but my local guitar tech/collector advised not to alter the old pickup. I decided to replace it with the Seymour Duncan Vintage Broadcaster Tele pickup, and am I glad I did. The Duncan pickup has the exact tone and output that I was looking for without any of the previous problems. I've used Seymour Duncan pickups in other guitars I own ('59rs. in my Les Paul), and I have always been more than pleasantly surprised and pleased with the noticeable tone and sound improvement. Over the years I have used other after marked pickups but none, and I mean NONE, compare with the quality of Seymour Duncan. I just ordered a Vintage Tele neck pickup to complete this project.

Thank you for making such

Thank you for making such great pickups. I've put them on most of my guitars, seth lovers, 59s, pearly gates, alnico 2 for strat, lil59, lotta humbucker, and two broadcasters. I always notice more dynamics with your pickups, besides the tone, which is outstanding every time. This broadcaster I set it very low in the tele cavity, and the harmonics are out of this world. Cheers and Salud!!!

A great pickup for that vintage tone.

I recently built an Esquire, and I chose the Broadcaster style pickup because I felt that it would give me that sound. It exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this pickup to anyone looking to build this style of guitar or any vintage type Tele.

Full, Even Tele Sound

I pieced together a Tele from a Warmoth body and neck, with no regards to expense and put a set of these Vintage Broadcasters in after I loaded it up initially with some Lollar's but the output was a bit thick, so I decided to try some Seymour Duncan Vintage Broadcasters, as I always come back to Seymour Duncans. These sound perfect. The neck pickup gets a great growly sound. It has this natural overdriven character, or pushed character maybe, like edgy but not shrill. The tone is well balanced, not thin. The neck pickup is very pleasing, kind of a warm, rounded bass character, which is the tele neck sound, right? Not that I'm a huge fan of warm, round. I like strat neck pickups better, but this is a Tele, so I have to accept that, and with this pickup, I can really articulate, or dial in the timbre a little bit by picking the strings either closer to the bridge, or farther away, depending on whether I want a little more treble or not. These pickups make my Tele the easiest guitar to play, because everything just sounds right and full, without an over the top, blown out sound. It's the right blend of fullness. The two pickups together achieve that perfect stereo like sound that Tele's are famous for.
