Description

The Vintage Hot Stack Plus is a noiseless strat pickup designed for the player who wants a little beefier tone but does not want a high output pickup. The tone is bright and bouncy, but with just a little more of everything. Chords will feel more powerful, and single notes will ring through with just a bit more authority than they would with a vintage output single coil. This pickup is designed to look like a traditional Strat single coil, and works great in neck, middle, or bridge position, and its dead quiet.

Back in the 80s, we patented a special bottom coil that actually injects negative hum into the pickup circuit and at the end of the production process, we fine tune each pickup for maximum noise cancellation. Pair with our Custom Stack Plus Strat in the bridge and Classic Stack Plus Strat in middle position for a punchy, versatile, hum-free Strat set.

Hand made in Santa Barbara, CA, the Vintage Hot Stack Plus uses alnico 5 rod magnets, a tappable 3-conductor lead wire, and is wax potted for squeal free operation.

  • Neck/Middle/Bridge position models will have the same output, wind direction and magnetic polarity.

Website was super easy to navigate and order the correct pickup for my guitar. I liked the idea of sound samples to compare different pickups. Have yet to install them, but I'm confident in their quality.

Perfect Strat Pickup

This pickup is THEE best one pickup Strat sound solution for anyone who hates hum. It is as close to perfect as it could be. I have this in the neck of MIM Strat. This does everything convincingly with no unwanted noise. Clean Hendrix, yep. Overdriven Hendrix, yep. Pink Floyd solos, yep. Light blues, yep. Pop music, yep. Liquid-y metal leads, believe it or not, pretty good. This is a true-blue Swiss Army Knife for the best of Strat tone. And that you mute the strings and get dead silent stop??? Why NOT get one of these??? Just…. . get…. . it. You will be glad you did.

Superb!

I wanted a noiseless single coil sized pickup to replace a true single coil in the neck position as recording with a computer and higher gain territory was annoyingly noisy. After looking at several options and wanting a pickup to balance well with my SD Jason Beck PB in the bridge of my Strat, the vintage hot stack plus seemed to be the ticket. Now installed this was the perfect choice. My HSS Strat has an unconventional wiring using a 3 position switch for neck, neck + middle and bridge. On its own this pickup sounds very single coil like, more so than the G&L MFD that it replaced. It has a great tone with cleans but adds a touch of warmth. There's plenty of gain to lead tones, works very well with high gain that sounds tight and focused at the bottom with plenty of sparkle on the highs, harmonics, pinch harmonic sound great. Coupled with the middle single coil which is another G&L MFD, cleans are amazing, crystal clean with that quack. I've not tested this pickup in split mode but I got this as a noisless pickup, not for its lower output true single coil type sound which it already has without splitting. Highly recommended for a versatile single coil neck pickup that matches well with a nice medium output humbucker.

Great hot strat neck sound

Great hot strat neck sound without the hum. Installed in my HS super strat, combined with a JB in the bridge position, plus a treble bleed. All my favorite sounds in one super versatile guitar. Fast shipping from Seymour Duncan.

These pickups gave me the tone I was looking for, replacing my Squier Strat's thin and screechy trebles with a fuller and wider range of sounds (especially the mids) without losing the clear trebles when needed.

Used in the bridge

Perfect pickup for rock. Can handle drive very well (good for palm mutes) and i would describe it as a Paf with single coil character (which can be tamed with the tone knob) Good clean tone, a bit less highs than a traditional single coil, but for my purpose i see that as a good thing. Squeals and harmonics are easy to achieve, good fat tone for leads. If you need a pup that rocks but still gives an organic feeling, look no further!

Superb noiseless pickup

I was looking for a pickup similar to Jeff Beck's stacked single coil's that John Suhr made for him years ago which he still uses in his main Stratocasters. They are noiseless, have staggered pole pieces with sandcast Alnico 5 magnets and a lot of output. Jeff's have a resistance of 11.5K. Seymour's creation are 11.9K which are right in the output ballpark. I bought two of these pickups I placed in a Fender Player Stratocaster with alder body, maple neck and fretboard. One for the neck and the middle and opted for a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound SSL-4 RWRP, for the bridge. They are indeed noiseless. After extensive playing, they could handle everything I could throw at them. I found them to be responsive to picking technique and great for harmonics. They sound great clean, not bland or stale as some noiseless pickups tend to be. Lows are not overpowering and highs ring out. They have a good midrange. They handle distortion quite well and work well with pedals and a number of amps. Alnico 5 magnets produce enough output even for high gain. They work well producing vintage sounds as well as modern sounds. Truly great pickups. Seymour should rename these Icons.
