Love this pickup. Bought a cheap strat from the pawn shop as a hobby guitar to learn how to mod, solder, etc. I honestly thought the thing would turn out junk since it was my first attempt. Oh boy was I wrong. Put a Black Winter in the bridge position and the psychedelic strat SCs in the middle and neck. This guitar sounds incredible. It's my favorite guitar now. Feel like I finally found the sound combo I've been chasing forever and it was a total accident. 100% would recommend these and the strat ones.

I spent a lot of time scouring this website looking at eq curves because I knew which frequency response I was looking for. This pickup fit the mold and has so much more than I had hoped. Install was a breeze and it plays nicely with the entire pedalboard. I'll always have a guitar with a black winter installed. Simple as.

Dropped these in a Jackson SLSMG with the triple shot rings and SD 500k pots and a 22uF cap on the tone. Sounds great and the ability to change the coil config is very versatile.

Killer Sound!

For this recent build, my customer requested, passive, coil splitting, black and METAL. The Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups checked all the boxes!

They sound great. A lot better than the stock pickups in my Ibanez 7 string. The Neck Pickup seems to have been not put together properly or something because it didn't want to fit through the mounting ring that was provided with the pickup due to the fact that the two coils aren't evenly aligned. But I was able to make it work. My guitar didn't have mounting rings around the pickup originally and this set didn't come with screws to mount the mounting ring to the body so I had to go find some short wood screws. Other than that the pickups sound amazing. This isn't my first Seymour Duncan experience, and I do love your pickups. I was slightly concerned I might have to exchange the neck pickup since it looked a little out of sorts. As you can see in the up close photo the difference in the gap around the coils compared to the mounting ring and how one of the coils rests on the mounting ring. But it doesn't appear to effect the sound so I guess I'll chalk it up to "character".

Knocked it off the park with the Black Winter, I’ve been a Seymour Duncan fan for years and play them for years. These are by far the best sounding pickups I’ve heard for playing Metal. Updated a LP with these and totally different guitar, alittle OD & Delay I can’t put it down. Thinking bout my other guitars with HHand having Black Winter put in I like them that much.🔥🎸🤘

Sweet tone! Awesome sustain on my dean.and of course it's a baby dean so, the last pickupsounded tinny,anyway it was a fake bill lawrence pickup, and at the same time it was frustrating. So, my baby dean needed more bass to make up the difference of the last wood (small guitar).but also at the same time is it was dropped on that guitar. And at the same time the sh-13 ( don't know if I spelled that correctly). But found our looking it up This website do get enough research. Found out that they both have simular claritys meaning ( different in the sound which makes it unique. But the dimebucker was $10 more than the black whit winter. But in which I love them both it was a harsh decision. And lastly it has my approval!

Absolutely perfect soundtrack mg great quality, 100% professional. Wish they came in package with mounting rings being a larger size.

I swapped out Jackson factory humbuckers for a set of Black Winter. These sound fantastic. You can set it up with coil-split/coil-tap option as Seymour Duncan provides an extra wire included in the kit. Great for thrash/black/death metal.

Fantastic Pickups! Surprised how little noise they produce without a gate, considering the high output. Very unique Tone when used with a flat Amp EQ. Very menacing!

Shipping took longer than estimated but that's my fault for being in Alaska. Sounds great, I've got it set super far from strings and the output is still strong with sustain for thousands of years. Big fan of the stealthy blackened option.

These are absolutely amazing. I put these in a BC RICH mockingbird and couldn't be more pleased. These have such a range, and the dynamics from the cleans to hard drivin distortion just make playing that much more enjoyable.

I’m a bass player, so, not much of a guitar guy. I bought a cheap Jackson Flying V years back just to have on hand. The previous owner installed a set of Dimarzio pickups and generic pots that sounded decent but had some issues. The volume knob for the bridge pickup had a bunch of dead spots and cut out regularly. I’ve been picking the guitar up a lot more lately for recording purposes and because I’m just having fun with it. So, I decided to upgrade the electronics. I’ve always heard good things about Seymor Duncan and decided it was time to take the plunge. First off, the price was better than I expected. This is high end gear at an affordable price. Even for a working stiff like me! Second, support/shipping/resources… top notch! Received my order from clear across the country in less than a week. Everything was neatly packed and packaged. Installation instructions came with the new gear and was fairly easy to follow, although, my specific setup wasn’t in the wiring diagrams. What was there allowed me and my electronics buddy a fairly easy way to piece it all together. Once everything was installed and finalized I plugged the guitar into my Marshall SC20C (badass amp!) and I couldn’t believe the tone and clarity! It sounds so crunchy, aggressive and, especially, CLEAR!!! Amazing gear! Would recommend to anyone looking for a dark, clean, aggressive tone with ZERO hum! Very well done, Seymor Duncan! Every guitar I own, or will EVER own will be getting this treatment and Seymor Duncan will be my go-to pickup of choice for as long as I can still play a guitar!

these pickups sound absolutely amazing, I got the blackened version which look super metal. I did a coil split on this install and all the voicings on these pickups have wonderful depth and are crystal clear, also very hot overall. I highly recommend.

I bought the Trembucker with a Black Winter Neck pickup for a matching set. I usually go with a JB or SH5 but played these on a friend's guitar and liked them. Installed on a custom Warmoth Mahogany body and neck guitar. These pickups are excellent. They are well balanced, tight, hot, but very versatile. These are not just for metal. Great clean tones and the neck pickup is a hidden Jem. Might be my new favorite pickup set.

After putting a Black Winter set in a buddy's Jackson a few years ago, I knew I would eventually have to get one myself. This one went into a 27-fret guitar with a Little '59 in the neck slot, and... Now that I've had a chance to really play around with it, it's even better than I remembered. Excellent balance, crazy output, and VERSATILITY! I was dialing in a super-high-gain lead sound on my old ADA MP-1 preamp, and figured I'd play with the volume knob a little. Even on a crazy-distorted tone, the volume knob brought it back to almost-clean territory, without even splitting the coils! So I set up a mid-gain "crunch" tone next, and sure enough, just dialing the volume and tone controls on the guitar took it from vicious to bluesy to (dare I say) almost polite. Splitting the coils on this thing will get you a really convincing Tele or Strat sound (depending on whether you split to the inner or outer coil - I wired my guitar to allow both), so even if you want to play country on it, it's right there. This pickup is just incredible, it responds so well to knob adjustments on the guitar and you can get wildly different sounds out of it using different amp settings. I'll say it again: This pickup is going to be the new JB/Jazz set, because it's great for whatever style you could possibly want. A+.

So i played an ec-1000 with these in it. Originally it had emgs and the owner hated them, but he got the guitar for a steal of a deal, so he was able to replace them easily. My mind was blown. Originally i was sold on the invaders, as i had them in my sc-200, but now i have a set I’m waiting to install in my te-200 as soon as it gets delivered. As heavy as they can play, the thing that sold me was the sound you get from them in a clean setting. Some chorus and a little reverb and good lord…it’s perfection

Upgraded a cheapy Jackson Warrior with a set of these at first and fell in love with the crushing tone of them so much I pulled the Emg 81 out of my LTD Arrow Black Metal for a black winter blackened. So much versatility yet so much chug and aggression when needed. Hands down the best pickup for extreme metal and top notch customer service I'll always buy and stand by Seymour Duncan pickups.

Recently installed this Black Winter into my 2006 Gibson SG Special's bridge. I play hardcore punk/dbeat/crust/sludge/death/grind and this pickup SLAYS! It has incredible harmonic response that I didn't have with my last pickup (vintage Dimarzio Super Distortion). I've played through the harshest pedals (HM-2 pedal and Audiority's Klirrton Grindstein HM-2 clone plugin) and you can play full chords while hearing every note very clearly. It also has this dirtiness or a bite to it that definitely makes it stand out from my neck pickup (Mojotone Black Magic) in more than just the standard ways bridge/neck pickups stand out. I absolutely love this pickup and I promise you will too! ESPECIALLY for the price! GET IT!

very hot passive pickup. Good bottom end. Haven't hooked up the phase switch. Yet will try at a later date. Metal and Rock are what I play with this. Clean is very brite. Harmonics are very quiet vrs other choices in this variety great for riffing.

Meant for all the heavy stuff but versatile enough for the more mellow stuff too. Great pickups! I put them in all my guitars!

This bridge pickup has exceptional harmonic content with a thumpy low end, front, clear mids, and a tame but biting high end. It surprisingly cleans up pretty well too so that's another nod. However, it ended up being a little too compressed for me to like it as much as I hoped to. IMO the Nazgul does the same thing but better and has more excitement in the highs and more clarity overall. If the feel and response of active pickups is something you like then I would definitely recommend the Black Winter. If you know you prefer passives you should look into the Nazgul.

The Black Winter humbucker is the clearest and heaviest humbucker I have ever played. It is, however, pretty bassy, and if you're using a Fender Amp like I am, there's not a lot of correction on the Amp, so if you have a bassy Amp or if your guitar is warm sounding, you might need an EQ pedal or a different guitar

Bought these for a drop C tuning guitar. The neck pickup has wild mids that really growl. The bridge pickup is a banshee from hell! It screams and will smash any pinch harmonics you throw at it. Great mids and soaring highs. Thanks Seymour Duncan. Stay bitchin.

Have to give it a 5 cos... what were we ordering? A killer Death/Black metal pickup right? Well its definitely that.My main has EMG 81 which to this day is hard to beat. I forgot this was passive. Super high ouput.Sounds greart. A Dimarzio Imperium bridge for 3rd guitar. This is D. Davidson of Revocations signature pickup. Loved their sound and he graduated MIT so wha tthe hell. wow again but this is medium high output with voicings to focus on hearing articulation of distorted single notes and bigger chords. Different sounding, bith killer. Neither is better either, theyre diffierent and equally kille. Im very excited today about both.

Great pickup. I am not disappointed. I usually use distortion pickups, but I wanted to try something new. This pickup is perfect for Metal.

Optimal gain. Fantastic break-up at 50% and full on sear at 100%. Cleans up nicely at 30%, and has a full tone in an ESP M-I. Winter has a new shade.

I recently purchased a Black Winter bridge pickup to try in place of the Seymour Duncan "Distortion" model that I typically use. I'm very happy that I took a chance on this pickup. It sounded excellent and performed great at the show I played with my band Smoke Healer over the weekend. We tune to C Standard/Drop B flat and this pickup held up to those low tunings better than anything else I have tried. This pick up has the most clean bite and control have ever used, its like going from VW to a Porsche. I want to get another for my Kramer but the one in my ESP BM is different for what I see to buy separate. The difference is so big that even my wife noticed and she commented on how good it sounded compared to my Alnico 5 Zebra Coil Humbucker.

I replaced the stock SH6N in my Jackson SL2Q with the Black Winter and man what a great tone! I have increased my practice time with so many new tone combinations with the Black Winter Trembucker I already had. Definitely a great purchase and a great product!
