Seymour Duncan in Germany for Musik Messe 2011

Posted on by kyle

Seymour Duncan will be at Europe’s largest musical instrument trade show, Musik Messe.  Similar to the winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA, Musik Messe in Frankfurt Germany is where the world’s manufacturers announce and show their new products. Cavalera Conspiracy bassist Johny Chow will be on hand all day, helping out with product demonstrations.

In addition to Cavalera Conspiracy, Chow has played with Soulfly, George Lynch’s Souls Of We and Fireball Ministry.  And just days before Musik Messe, Chow and Cavalera Conspiracy will be opening up for Iron Maiden in Brazil! The show sold out in minutes at 65,000 people.

Despite the range of rock styles Johny throws down, he makes it all work with a single pickup, the SPB-3 Quarter Pound for P-bass. “I love the Quarter Pound. It gives me the freedom to have the more rounded, ’70s-style sound that I use in Fireball Ministry and Souls Of We. But can also give me an aggressive, rip-your-face-off bass tone. It has a tight, clear low end that I’m never tripping over when playing fast syncopated notes.” At Musik Messe, Chow will be giving bass and guitar pickup advice, as well as demonstrating the new Liberator solder-less pickup change system.
