Perri Ink Guitars releases the Anthem

Seymour Duncan Artist Nick Perri (Shinedown, Perry Farrell, Silvertide, Matt Sorum, SINAI) has just released his latest line of guitars under the Perri Ink. Guitars brand. The Anthem is made distinctive by it’s hand-made Perri Ink. Cartel American Flag pickguard and its use of a Callaham bridge. This, combined with it’s eye catching natural wood…

The Acoustic Tube SA-1 Soundhole Pickup

We all know the story: you have a gorgeous-sounding acoustic guitar and you need to perform with it onstage, but you don’t want to deal with the ‘quack factor’ of under-saddle piezo pickups, nor do you wish to be anchored to a mic or two. And you don’t want to perform an irreversible or otherwise…

The Alnico II Pro

The Alnico II Pro is currently my neck pickup of choice, because it does so many things so well. Probably the most famous with its association with Slash, it is the inspiration behind the APH-2 Slash pickup. Both are constructed with a weaker Alnico II bar pickup, which immediately softens the mids compared to Alnico V-based pickups. The APH-1 is a great choice for jazz, blues or classic rock or a few other things.

Choosing The Right Active Pickup

Seymour Duncan has a wide range of active pickups that were designed to give you a truly organic sound with a wide frequency range (more tone). Our standard AHB-1 Blackouts are available in both Phase I and Phase II sizes, which means that you can easily find the right replacement for your guitar that already…

Chambering: Relief For Your Back or Something Really Different To Solid?

Previously, we’ve discussed the history and reason for chambering. The actual effect of the chambering has not been mentioned, though. So what do the tone chambers actually do for your tone? First let’s look at what tone actually is. The tone of a guitar can be the sound of the guitar when heard acoustically or…

The Pearly Gates: Pure Texan Tone

The Pearly Gates model is a recreation of a specific set of PAFs in a particular sunburst ’59 Les Paul Standard. Vintage PAFs generally spec out to be low-output by today’s standards, and the Pearly Gates is very slightly overwound compared to the typical PAF. The result is a humbucker that sounds slightly ruder than the average PAF, with strong sustain, noticeable warmth and a bright high end which really helps harmonics to sing.

Emerging in Digital Tone

Since the humble beginnings of the electric guitar, there has been a steady increase in the technology that surronds the instrument. Whether it be amps that have exceedingly become more advanced or the birth of digital effets pedals. There is no doubt that during the last 15 years there has been an acceleration in the availability of…

Testament’s View of Mankind: “Dark Roots of Earth”

Testament does it again! If their last album “The Formation of Damnation” was an exclamation they’ve returned to form, their latest release “Dark Roots of Earth” is their statement that they’ve broke the mold and are recasting the genre. This album proves they aren’t concerned with what others are doing but with who they are…
