Interview with Nick Hipa of As I Lay Dying

As I Lay Dying isn’t your typical metal band, nor have they followed the regular path of being debuted with a strong album and attempting to get back to that point. From their first album their music and skills continued to evolve when in 2007 they released An Ocean Between Us, an album that had…

Hello Me… Meet the Real Me: Mustaine

Dave Mustaine is universally known as the founder of Megadeth and forefather of thrash metal. Dave made significant contributions to Metallica as a member from 1981-1983, and has writing credits on their first two albums. The Seymour Duncan User Group Forum held a Q&A with Mustaine in 2010, with fans pouring in to ask Dave any…

7 Minutes of Terror

On August 5th, at 10:31 P.M. PT, the large nuclear powered rover named Curiosity will begin its treacherous descent down to the planet Mars. Over the course of seven minutes, a number of extremely advanced systems will kick in, in the hopes of slowing the rover down and gently depositing it into the surface of…

Who’s That Girl With the Seymour Duncans? It’s Sarah Michelle!

If you happened to be on the Duncan  site recently you may have seen the YouTube video of a young shredder peeling off Yngwie and GnR licks on an SRV – inspired Strat equipped with YJM Fury pickups. After you stopped smiling, you probably wondered “Who is this Sarah Michelle?” Wonder no more!

Tapping into Versatility With a Tapped Single Coil

If you’re like me, you love your Strat, but you’re not always in love with the traditional Strat bridge pickup. For many of us, the bridge pickup is the first one to get swapped out when it’s time for an upgrade. Alt rock, hard rock, punk, and metal tend to demand more power, midrange, and low end than a good ol’ vintage-style single coil can pump out.

Guitar Wiring 104

By the end of the last article on electric guitar wiring, we had wired a Tele-type guitar for three-way pickup switching using both the standard blade switch, and the Gibson-style toggle switch. We’re going to stick with that toggle switch now, and see how we can have separate volume and tone controls for each pickup….

Iron Maiden And Seymour

If you were to walk into Seymour’s home, one of the first things you’d see would be a platinum disc, proudly displayed on the wall in the foyer. It’s a disc that commemorates Somewhere In Time – Iron Maiden’s first platinum album–and it was given to Seymour as a gift by Michael Kenney, Maiden’s bass tech and live keyboardist.

Firewind Takes a Wall of Sound to Europe

Gus G. is a busy man these days, having just finished a tour with Ozzy Osbourne that paired him up with Zakk Wylde & Slash and then add to that his new album and world tour and you get a man that is determined to make his mark on the music scene. Plans have already been announced for a series of free clinics across the United States. Given all that has happenend, we figured it would be a good time to check up with Gus and see how things are going.

Sail the Seas with Metal’s Most Dangerous Pirates!

Summer is here! The weather is getting warmer, the women are getting hotter, and the music is getting louder. What better to do than plan your vacation… for winter? That might sound strange, but when the snow’s falling and everyone’s shut indoors, wouldn’t you rather be out cruising the Caribbean with some of metal’s biggest…

Guitar Wiring 103

So far we’ve had one pickup connected to the volume control and then the volume control sends output to the jack. We’ll continue with that setup, except that when we add additional pickups, we’ll control which ones are connected to the volume control.

Please check your items carefully and confirm they are correct for color, position, etc. We are not able to accommodate order changes or cancellations once you have completed the check out process.
