P-Rails®

In the past, if you wanted humbucker, P90 and Strat tones, you would have needed three different guitars. But now, the P-Rails humbucker delivers all three sounds in a pickup that is a drop-in replacement for any standard sized humbucker. The Triple Shot mounting rings (available flat for super strats or arched for Les Pauls), put 2 switches at your fingertips to easily select your voicing. You dont have to install a mini toggle, nor use push pull pots to access the different tones.

The bridge and neck P-Rails can each be split to give you an authentic P90, or it can be split to the Rail coil for Strat like tone. With both coils on, you get a big sounding humbucker that packs a nice full punch. The neck pickup in this set is RWRP (reverse wind, reverse polarity) so you are hum- free when using any single coil in the neck with one in the bridge. Combine them in any combo you want. Available with arched rings to be used on a guitar with a Les Paul-style carved topm or with flat rings for other guitars.

Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the P-Rails humbuckers use a pair of alnico 5 bar magnets, comes with 4-conductor leadwire for all of the wiring options, and they vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.

Psyclone™ Vintage Filter’Tron

The Seymour Duncan Psyclone™ Vintage Filter’Tron pickups recreate the distinctive sound of the original Filter’Tron pickups of the fifties and sixties. Due to tighter pole spacing, low DCR, and strong magnetism, the tone falls somewhere between a PAF style humbucker and a single-coil – warm, clear, snappy, and sweet, making it the perfect complement for country, jazz, and classic rock.

The neck pickup is designed to perfectly recreate the original Filter’Tron pickup spec from the fifties, while the bridge pickup is calibrated with a slightly hotter wind to balance output levels and create a fuller tone. Originally designed in our Custom Shop, we took special care when sourcing materials to ensure the look and fit of the pickups are perfect – whether you’re restoring a vintage guitar or dropping them in a modern classic.

The Psyclone Vintage pickups are drop-in replacements for any guitar routed for Filter’Tron style pickups and include the correct hardware for either direct mount or pickup-ring mounting options. Psyclone pickups are hum-cancelling and use a single conductor lead wire. Each Psyclone pickup is handmade in Santa Barbara, CA.

Quarter Pound™

With more than twice the power of a traditional Strat single-coil, the Quarter Pound Staggered has a fat and punchy midrange and well-defined top end that’s always ready to be cranked. The hand polished, diameter alnico 5 rod magnets use the traditional Strat pole stagger and are matched with a powerful custom coil winding to deliver sparkly midrange harmonics, great sustain, and big, full chords.

The Quarter Pound Staggered RWRP for Stratocaster uses the same diameter alnico 5 rod magnets and high output custom coil winding as the standard version, but is made reverse wound, reverse polarity so that, when combined with the neck or bridge pickups in positions 2 & 4, it gives you noiseless operation. On its own it will give you the same beefed up, punchy tone that you get from the standard wound model.

The neck/bridge and middle pickups are available in an optional tapped variation as well, allowing you to tap into both vintage and high output tonalities with a single set.Use a set of three for a huge sounding Strat setup, or for added versatility, use an SSL-7 bridge with a pair of SSL-5s in the neck and middle. The bobbins are hand built using a custom high-output coil wind, diameter alnico 5 rod magnets, and are wax potted for squeal free performance. We use modern oval Forbon flatwork (non-triangular) which enables this pickup to fit into any guitar that is routed for single coils.

  • Neck/Middle/Bridge position models will have the same output, wind direction and magnetic polarity.
  • Middle RwRP position (reverse wind/reverse polarity) – choose this to have a pickup that will be hum-cancelling with one of our neck or bridge models.
  • All sets, except the Jimi Hendrix signature model, come with a Middle RWRP as the Middle Pickup.
  • Tapped- High output models may have a “tap” option available. An additional lead wire is placed midway through the coil wind, allowing wiring to a push-pull pot or mini-toggle switch to give an additional vintage output level option.

Quarter Pound™

With its ¼” diameter alnico 5 rod magnets, and custom overwound coil, our Quarter Pound Jazzmaster neck pickup will give you a powerful, warm rhythm sound. This pickup is RWRP for hum-free operation when used with the bridge pickup. Our Quarter Pound Jazzmaster bridge pickup will deliver a powerful midrange punch that will make both chords and solos jump out with rich harmonics. These pickups move away from the traditional bright Jazzmaster sound and gives your guitar a sound similar to a P90 Soapbar pickup. Both the neck and bridge models are drop-in replacements for Fender American Standard Jazzmaster sized pickups. They will fit perfectly into the original covers (NOTE: pole pieces will not go through the cover). We build these with ¼” diameter alnico 5 rod magnets, a custom coil wind, custom flatwork, and each pickup is wax potted for squeal free operation. Do not come with covers.

Blackouts® HB

Just swap your volume pot with a Blackouts Modular Preamp. It combines the high-output, low-noise Blackouts preamp with a quality volume pot and our Liberator Solderless Pickup Change System for quick connections. Get your own soundwith your own look.

The genre-defining crunch and wail of modern heavy rock guitar often comes from active guitar pickups, which have a built-in, battery-powered preamp epoxy-sealed into a stark black casing. It’s a distinctly modern sound married to a patently modern look. Now, for the first time, you can make any pickup an active pickup, even pickups with a more traditional look.

Seymour Duncan has taken its award-winning, low-noise Blackouts balanced differential preamp out of the pickup and integrated it with a high-quality volume pot. Blackouts Modular Preamp is an ingenious way to get that high-gain, active guitar sound with any passive four-conductor pickup. Simply by swapping a volume pot for a Blackouts Modular Preamp volume pot, you can get active pickup performance with a more classic look.

To capture the precise tone and performance of Original Blackouts pickups, Seymour Duncan created the specially voiced Blackouts Coil Pack, a replacement humbucker designed specifically for use with the Blackouts Modular Preamp. The Coil Pack will be available as a stand-alone neck or bridge humbucker or in a two-humbucker set packaged together with the Blackouts Modular Preamp.

Connecting the Coil Pack, or any pickup, to Blackouts Modular Preamp is an incredibly simple, solderless procedure, thanks to the same bare-wire Lockdown connector stations used in the Seymour Duncan Liberator Solderless Pickup Change System. Installing pickups only requires a mini-screwdriver to secure pickup and battery leads into the rock-solid screw-clamp connectors.

Mick Thomson Blackouts

Mick Thomson of Slipknot asked us for a set of seven-string Blackouts customized to complement the complex, crushing riffs he plays in dropped tunings. “I had them tighten up the bottom because tuning low like we are, you don’t need that lower ‘woof,’” Mick says. “And I had the top end adjusted a little bit for more cut without being harsh or scratchy. They’re extremely quiet, they’re extremely clean and they have a lot more tone than the typical active pickup. They sound more real. The harmonics are richer. It’s a bigger sound across a wider range of frequencies.”

The EMTY bridge model has the energy and output of the original Blackouts but with Mick’s custom voicing, which emphasizes the percussive chunk of palm-muted notes. The EMTY neck model is designed to provide crystal clear clean tones, but when you crank up the gain you’ll hear more aggressive mids and increased sustain; great for high-speed solos and ominous melodic interludes.

The EMTY Blackouts set comes with all the hardware needed for installation: including pots, hardware, quick-connector cables, capacitor, output jack, battery clip and wire. If your guitar already has active pickups with quick-connector cables installed, you can simply unplug them and plug in your Blackouts. EMTY Blackouts are made in Santa Barbara, California, and are available in passive mount for 6 string guitars and either passive mount or active soapbar mount for 7 string models.

Retribution™

These Retribution pickups were designed with Dino Cazares of Fear Factory and Divine Heresy to provide the essential attack, clarity and increased headroom that 7 and 8-string players like Dino have been asking for. They feature a specially tuned preamp with just the right amount of gain, enhanced attack definition and maximum string clarity.

Like the standard Blackouts series and alt.metal Blackouts, they maintain an organic open sound that isn’t sterile but instead is huge and powerful with a lower noise level and an increased dynamic response compared to other active pickups. Dino Cazares says of the Retribution, “It has a richer tone that’s more evenly voiced so the low string is not fighting with the high string. It’s a very crunchy sound, great for low tunings. It has more articulation in the pick attack and the distortion has less unwanted noise and compression.”

These pickups were designed with extended range players in mind by maintaining definition on the low B and F# strings. Like the Blackouts complete calibrated set for 7 string guitars (passive and soapbar sized) and 8 string guitars (soapbar sized). Each Retribution is wound and assembled at the Seymour Duncan factory in Santa Barbara, California.

Please check your items carefully and confirm they are correct for color, position, etc. We are not able to accommodate order changes or cancellations once you have completed the check out process.
