Pearly Gates™ for Tele®

Since the late 70’s, guitarists have been coming to us for the Pearly Gates humbucker pickup. Originally designed for players looking for tones that were thicker and warmer than a standard P.A.F. without sacrificing the clean dynamics they offer. The iconic Pearly Gates tone is now available to Telecaster® players.

This humbucking Tele® size bridge pickup delivers the grunt and grit needed for styles ranging from country to hard rock while retaining the instrument’s notorious twang and bite.

BG1400

Since the early days of Seymour Duncan, guitarists have been coming to our Custom Shop looking for pickups to bring a little extra howl and growl to their vintage guitars. For the past three decades, one of the most requested Custom Shop exclusives has been the BG1400. The pickup was designed for Telecaster® players looking for something a little fatter and hum-cancelling without sacrificing too much of the twang factor.

This tried-and-true Stack® bridge pickup features a pair of overwound coils on top of one another. The result is a noise-canceling Telecaster® bridge pickup with a slightly more compressed, yet balanced attack and bodacious presence across all strings.

The BG1400 neck pickup is available for purchase from the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop.

Rickenbacker Bass

We moved the Rickenbacker bass tone from great to downright amazing! The bridge pickup uses Alnico 5 magnets to add power and sustain for those wanting a bigger push without tonal coloration. The result is slightly larger than the stock bridge pickup, so the original chrome mounting ring cannot be used with it. We supply a special phenolic mounting ring that goes well with our pickup and will look great on your bass.

The neck pickup uses two ceramic magnets and special windings to add warmth, clarity and tonal range over stock a Ric neck pickup. This pickup is also slightly hotter and warmer than the originals, as well as hum-cancelling.

Heavy Weather

If you’re looking for a slightly brighter take on the iconic early ‘60s jazz bass tone, look no further. You’ll find the Heavy Weather Jazz Bass Pickup Set delivers all of the distinctive vintage grit and growl you’d expect with the addition of expressive harmonics that will have your notes ringing clear as a bell.

The vintage-hot wound Alnico 5 pickups are voiced to provide a punchy and fluid responsiveness and treated to breathe in a way that delivers enhanced harmonic clarity. Heavy Weather pickups will perform equally well in fretted and fretless basses.

Scooped Strat

The Scooped Strat pickups were designed for players that wanted to cover everything from singing and screaming vintage Texas blues to the soft crunch and clean high tones of pop rock. To cover that kind of range, the pickups were voiced to accentuate the high and low frequencies while scaling back on the mids.

Each pickup is based off a set of underwound 50’s style pickups with slightly higher pole height that provided the scooped midrange. These Alnico 5 loaded pickups will create incredible balance with pedals and amps that are voiced with higher mids.

Psychedelic Strat

For those of us who aren’t able to own a late ‘60s Stratocaster, installing a set of our Psychedelic Strat pickups is the next best thing! These vintage voiced pickups have the signature psychedelic and paisley underground sound found in all of our favorite feedback and wah drenched extended solos.

Using traditional materials and period accurate wind, these Alnico 5 loaded pickups deliver unique depth and fullness to your sound. On the clean side, they deliver the desired scooped and glassy tones, and when you stomp on a fuzz, you’ll get tight and defined clarity in all positions.

High Voltage

The Seymour Duncan High Voltage pickups were designed for players that are looking for the perfect balance between hard rocking tone and crystal clear cleans. Powerful chords, low end legato riffage and generally expressive tight rhythms on one end and screaming, sustaining leads on the other.

The High Voltage humbuckers are a nod to the old school with the familiar Alnico 2 magnets, but they are wound for a bit more aggressive voicing that creates a noticeable sonic distance. The bridge pickup is degaussed in this calibrated set that delivers a very balanced tone.

If you’re looking for your full gamut of classic hard rocking tone to come from your pickups and amps more so than pedals, this is the set for you!

‘78 Model

In the late 70s, Seymour Duncan was well known as the go-to guy for players that wanted something custom. Sometime in ‘78, Eddie Van Halen gave him a P.A.F. to experiment with, along with instructions to rewind it with the intent to enhance the reproduction of artificial harmonics and “hot wind” a little for some extra “juice”.

The Seymour Duncan ‘78 Model humbucker is the result of that experiment. Loaded with an Alnico 2 magnet and wound to the exact same hot specs as that original P.A.F. rewind, the ‘78’s magnet and output combination lends itself to a warm crunch with biting leads and overtone laden tapped runs. While the ‘78 Model was not the final destination for Eddie, it offers players the opportunity to revisit a waypoint in the early days of his legendary pursuit of the ultimate tone.

If you’re a player who demands a high-performance tone and wants the classic hard rockin’ rhythm crunch, articulate picked harmonics for your tapped solos and whammy bar acrobatics, the ‘78 Model just may be your ticket.

Green Magic

Guitarists have long sought out the lonesome hollow blues rock tones that emerged in the late 60’s. For one guitarist, his signature tone was achieved as the result of a fortunate accident – a pickup with a magnet installed backwards.

With the Green Magics, when each pickup is chosen individually, you’ll get the classic neck and bridge tones expected with vintage voiced humbuckers. In the combined position, with the neck pickup’s reversed magnet, the pickups will be out of phase with each other, giving the clarity and expressiveness generally associated with single coils.

For any guitarist wanting to expand the versatility of their guitar and capture the authentic tones of blues rock’s golden era with a touch of the supernatural, get the Green Magic set.

Jeff Loomis Blackouts®

Jeff Loomis knows what he wants to hear from his guitar, whether playing solo or as a member of iconic metal bands such as Arch Enemy and Conquering Dystopia. When he set out to design his signature Blackouts set, Jeff wanted pickups that would remain clear under heavy distortion, with a strong pick attack to maintain definition when he plays fast, and with enough sustain and dynamics to keep up with his virtuoso legato and sweep-picking techniques.

The Jeff Loomis Blackouts are inspired by the voicing of high-output passive humbuckers, but with the output, headroom, and low noise of actives. Jeff’s active Blackouts set is designed to sound more organic and dynamic than most active humbuckers. Jeff’s active Blackouts™ set is designed to sound more organic and dynamic than most active humbuckers. His bridge humbucker is a high-output pickup made with an Alnico 5 bar magnet. It keeps power chords sounding big and powerful and has a pronounced midrange response with a strong pick attack for tracking fast playing.

His neck pickup employs Alnico 5 rod magnets to further enhance the response to picking and legato techniques, with a slight bump in the treble frequencies and a focused bass response to keep lower notes from sounding too boomy. Available for 6-string, or for 7-string in a passive mount architecture with black brushed nickel covers or in an active mount soapbar housing.
