Together these Quarter Pound bass pickups provide a sonically full voice with a hold on to your hats high-output punch. Each strike of the string provides a full low-end bite with plenty of sustain. They’ve provided their unique punch for bass players from Blink 182, Alien Ant Farm, Rise Against, Bad Religion and Smashing Pumpkins. Players who have a P-J bass will now be able to get the rich tone of the Quarter Pound pickups with our P-J 4-String Bass Set.

The Quarter Pound for Jazz Bass was designed to deliver hot output, great attack, and massive attitude. The quarter-inch diameter poles and intense coil winding deliver a full, even response, with great sustain and sonic richness. The magnets on the Quarter Pound P-bass pickup expand the magnetic field and extend the frequency ranges for a fat, full, punchy sound with tremendous mid-range presence and maximum output. Though often used for heavy rock tones, this pickup set offers amazing tonal versatility, making it a favorite across the board in live and studio settings.

These pickups shine in classic rock, hard rock, punk, grunge and metal applications. For more versatility you can add a 2 or 3 band tone circuit. Each pickup is hand built in Santa Barbara, California.

70/74 Jazz Bass

These 5-String Jazz Bass pickups capture the tone, feel and articulation of a great ’62 Jazz Bass. We harnessed the warmth, subtle aggressive attack, mid range growl, and the J-tone that sits just right and voiced it to go lower than before.

Why should we limit amazing tone to 4 strings? We adjusted the coil geometry and winding configuration to compensate for the different nature of extended range instruments. It’s now possible to capture the subtle characteristics of traditional “J-tone” all the way down to the low “B.”

These pickups feature the cover size of traditional Fender 5-string Jazz basses. If you have one of the modern Jazz V models, use the 67/70 model for the proper fit. Comes with black covers. Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the 70/74 5-string Jazz Bass single coil pickups use hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, Forbon flatwork, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal free performance.

3 Coil Music Man

The strong, clear lows and a precise high-end from these pickups can make your MM sing. Now you can have the same vintage vibe as the 2-coil design, and with more frequency response. Using your existing preamp, we offer you more tonal range and the MM midrange bite without being harsh. This 3-coil alnico magnet Music Man bass pickup is designed to replace any Music Man 3-coil pickup (Stingray or Sterling models) in either a 4 or 5-string configuration. It gives you three tonal settings that are accessed via your instruments 3-way blade switch series, parallel, and split. All three settings are hum-canceling, and your stock preamp is gain compensated so that all three settings have the same output level.

NOTE: this pickup is designed for use with the stock Music Man pre-amp and selector switch intended for a 3-coil system. Will not work with our STC-3M3 or -3M4 preamps.

Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, our 3-coil alnico Music Man bass pickups use oversized alnico 5 rod magnets, Forbon flatwork, 4-conductor leadwire, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal free operation.

Steve Harris P-Bass

Originally developed in our Custom Shop for Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, this medium output P bass pickup is special for many reasons. Working closely with Steve we crafted a P-bass pickup with a low-mid boost that adds punch and body while maintaining a crisp and clear high-end attack. This design uses hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets and a special vintage-hot custom wind of 13k Ohms to achieve its uniquely aggressive bite.

“I was having some problems with the original pickups in my bass and Seymour Duncan said they could make pickups that did what I needed – and they did!” Steve said. We are honored to be working with such a legend.

Hot Single Coil P-Bass

We were asked to give the traditional single coil P bass pickup a little boost, so we obliged. By increasing the coil wind on the Vintage, we came up with a more robust pickup that added output and low end while maintaining the clarity of the original single coil design; so if you like the feel of you Tele Bass, but wish it had a fuller, more dynamic tone, this is the pickup for you. This pickup is a drop-in replacement for an American Standard Single Coil Precision Bass.

Hot P-Bass

If you are a fan of P-bass tone but need a little more push, the Hot P-Bass pickup gives you a the tonal and output burst you need. Built similarly to our Vintage model, the Hot for P-Bass uses a custom high output coil winding for increased low-end response and a fuller sound. What exactly does that mean? Basically your P-Bass just got a whole lot better. Its aggressive attack makes it a great pickup for heavier musical styles. This pickup is a drop-in replacement for any American Standard Precision Bass.

Vintage Single Coil

Considered to be the first production bass, the single coil pickup in the tele bass was the first serious foray into capturing low-end vibrations. This P Bass pickup is still a favorite today because of a robust low-end tone and a subtle, articulate midrange punch. We haven’t changed a thing on this pickup, using authentic components for this classic, down to the black yarn and waxed cloth cable. The output is a little lower than other pickups, giving you lots of headroom, yet maintaining distinct, classic tone.

Since 1978, we’ve been hand building all of our vintage Fender style single coil pickups with the right color and thickness of Forbon flatwork, along with the period correct hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets. Each pickup comes complete with waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wires. We hand file the flatwork, assemble, and lacquer the bobbin just as it was done during Fender’s Golden Age. Each Vintage Single Coil P-Bass coil is wrapped in black yarn for protection, just like the originals.

Hot Jazz Bass

For this pickup we used the classic jazz tone foundation and added some punch. These pickups are voiced a little lower than a traditional jazz, with a hotter output and fuller low end than the original, giving you boom without too much top end sizzle. The hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, and custom coil wind deliver a warmer, fatter Jazz Bass tone with a lower midrange growl. The more aggressive attack from these pickups make them great for all things rock.

The neck pickup is wound RWRP so that it will hum-cancel when used together with the bridge pickup. These pickups are drop-in replacements for any American Standard Jazz Bass.

Vintage Jazz Bass

When the Jazz bass was introduced, the music world was rocked yet again by fantastic new tone and options for a progressing bass community. These pickups are a faithful recreation of the Jazz Bass single coils of the early 60s. Our Vintage Jazz Bass pickups stay true to the originals by capturing that warm tone with just the right amount of midrange.

The neck model is full sounding, and brings in a nice, rich bottom end without being boomy. It is wound RWRP so that it will hum-cancel when used together with the bridge pickup. The bridge model is smooth and punchy and delivers a brightness that is a perfect balance for the warmer neck model.
