Music Man Active Preamp

The STC-3M4 is the 4-knob version of our Music Man Tone Circuit, and has a bass control, a treble control, a midrange control, and a master volume with a push/pull for our proprietary Slap Switch. The treble control can produce a wide ranging, extremely usable response that is brilliant, yet smooth without being brittle. The lows are deep, clear, and tight. The mids range from ultra-smooth to punchy and all points in between. The Slap Switch is a push/pull located on the volume control. Pulling up on the volume knob will engage the special EQ contour Voiced specifically for slap playing. The two small trim pots on the circuit board can be tweaked to preset the slap contour EQ just the way you want. Combine with our Music Man replacement pickups for a complete setup.

 

The STC-3M4 is specifically designed for Stingray basses but will also work in any bass that is equipped with one passive pickup and has space for 4 control knobs (volume/slap switch, treble, midrange, and bass control) and a single 9v battery in the control cavity. Two 9v batteries can be wired together in series  for added headroom.

 

We include all necessary mounting hardware: high-quality potentiometers on pre-wired harness; battery clip; stereo jack; and black anodized, knurled, dome-style knobs. NOTE: this preamp is designed for use with a standard 2-coil Music Man style pickup and will NOT work properly if combined with a 3-coil Sterling style pickup.

Steve Bailey 2-Band

Seymour Duncan Tone Circuits will add a tremendous amount of on-board tonal versatility to any dual pickup bass. Our design enables players to boost or cut specifically focused frequencies in order to achieve signature tones and to dial in a great sound no matter what the situation. We even added the two small trim pots on the circuit board can be tweaked to preset the frequency contour EQ just the way you want.

 

The STC-2ASB Tone Circuit provides bass and treble controls, a master volume, a blend control, and our special frequency contour switch. This preamp was voiced by Steve Bailey to have two bands of focused EQ, together with a switch that engages a frequency contour optimized to bring out fretless harmonics as well as mid-range boost. The frequency contour is engaged by pulling up of the volume control. The onboard tone circuits of the Blackouts Active Bass Preamp will instantly add tremendous tonal versatility to your bass. This system enables you to boost or cut EQ at center frequencies voiced specifically for electric bass. It features low noise, low distortion, and high headroom.

 

Although originally voiced for use with Blackouts for Bass pickups, with its switchable treble frequency, the Blackouts Bass Preamp works well for all musical styles and genres. The lows are deep, clear, and tight. Because there are two treble frequency centers to choose from you get a ton of flexibility in the high end. The lower treble setting is perfect for adding growl and bite to traditional P, J, and MM tones. The higher setting offers crystal-clear top end to modern-sounding, full-frequency basses and, when used with Blackouts for Bass, provides punishing clarity without being brittle. This two-band active EQ is available in two configurations.

 

The STC-2C-BO is mounted to a concentric potentiometer, and can replace a standard tone knob with no need for additional holes in the bass. The STC-2S-BO separates the treble and bass controls onto two pots. The Blackouts Bass Preamp ships with all necessary mounting hardware: high-quality potentiometers on a pre-wired harness, battery clip, stereo jack, and knurled black dome-style knobs.

The STC-3A Tone Circuit provides a 4-knob prewired harness that includes a stacked basstreble control, a midrange control, a master volume, a blend control, and our proprietary Slap Switch. The treble control can produce a wide ranging, extremely usable response that is brilliant, yet smooth without being brittle. Our midrange control can be used to just slightly remove excess midrange honk or to add sonic power that will really make solos jump out. The bass can be reduced to tighten up a boomy instrument, or it can be increased to add warmth and punch. The Slap Switch is a pushpull located on the volume control. Pulling up on the volume knob will engage the special EQ contour voiced specifically for slap playing.

The bass can be reduced to tighten up a boomy instrument, or it can be increased to add warmth and punch. Mid range can adjust to give more punch or scoop for more clarity. The Slap Switch is a push/pull located on the volume control. Pulling up on the volume knob will engage the special EQ contour voiced specifically for slap playing.
